"Trainspotting 2" by Danny Boyle - movie review

I did not expect Trainsport 2 with great impatience. I even started to wrap myself up that the movie could not be particularly good - all that I adored in the original encapsulated a past time, a key part of the story of the famous Generation X, with all its cynicism, revelation, heart lack of scruples. With narcotic intoxication and denial of social order, unforgettable soundtrack, stunning installation, and intricate public satire. The feeling of independent cinema and the enigmatic main characters without their own place, purpose and direction. I start to watch the second part with a headache caused by the question in my head: "What more are we can to see from these people, worth 20 years later?" God, how much I had underestimated Danny Boyle and company! " Trainsporting 2" is a worthy sequel. He has two things that turned the original into modern classics and one of the most influential British movies - soul and style. Twenty years after he took the money from a heroin deal and fucked his friends, leaving Edinburgh without a trace, Mark Renton returned home from Amstadam, where he had stayed in the past. He first encounters Spud, who has not yet fled his dependence, later with Sick Boy and his charming Veronica, and at one point suddenly comes to his friend Begby. I do not want to reveal anything more than storyline, because the impact of the film is more pronounced when your thought is not busy resisting preconceptions. The dark counter-cultural impression of the original is at first sight absent and replaced by melancholy and remorse. Friends have long been separated, but there are nostalgic retrospectives to the kids who are fun sharing the football pitch and the young people sharing drugs and needles with which to inject it into their veins. In the references to the first movie we find previously unused frames of the original.

"Your blood is flowing in me," Simon told Renton. Whatever the limits of their perverse friendship, they seem inseparably linked from something larger, almost transcendental. And that stands out in the acting game - Ewan McGregor and Johnny Lee Millers partake with ease and energy, as if they have never left these roles but have lived together with the protagonists. The same goes for Spud, which has considerably more screen time and a corresponding weight in the development of the action. The sensitivity and bumpy faces with which Ewan Bremner raises his performance far beyond the twisted, silly 20-year-old junkie we remember are fantastic. Begby seems to have changed most in appearance, managing to keep his fearsome character, but he also does not miss surprises for which you will not read here. Everyone has found their own way of killing the years, but no one has achieved anything significant. And this is a surprise I could not imagine - the basic quality of the film is that it shows the difficulties of the four friends to find their place in the sun, but at a time of drastic changes when any attempt to find a sustainable sense becomes down and powder for a few minutes, confronted with the uninterrupted media noise and consumer delight. These themes are revealed in the renewed monologue Marc Renton exerts to Veronica in a radically different atmosphere after she is interested in his mantra.

The soundtrack also justifies expectations, and at times even captures the powerful impact of music from the first film. Outstanding performances include Queen's Radio Ga Ga, Blondie's "Dreaming" and Franky Goes to Hollywood's "Relaxation," but there are also some more unknown additions that dictate the rhythm. Undoubtedly, the "Lust for Life" rattling version of The Prodigy turns the final scene into something hard and special, leaving us with the feeling that we have just seen a remix of one of our favorite movies. "Trainspotting 2" is just as honest as the original. The fantastic cinematic installation, the impeccable cinematographic work (the contrast between Edinburgh's cold Gothic streets and the bright, colorful colors in the nightclubs is amazing), Danny Boyle's sense of visual humor, quick dialogue, and black humor turn the film into a lesson how to make a qualitative sequel, relying, albeit not too much, on nostalgia, expanding the familiar world, enriching the familiar images and containing all the living humor that we need today.

Thank you. :)

The cinema is a wonderful art, which transports us to other places imaginatively and allows us to relax and enjoy different moments that take us away from problems, entertain us, inform us and make us laugh or cry depending on the genre.

well...... you are right :D

When we like something we always want to repeat, in the case of movies or series it is like that, we have such a good impression of the first part that we look forward to the second being better, in many cases it does not fill our expectations. the ideal is to enjoy it and not compare it.

I love this review and I love this film. I personally felt it's refreshing to come to material only when a story presents itself. All too often do studios force out sequels without first having a story to tell. I thought Begby was just as powerful without all the craziness of the first film because we got to see sides to him we never knew existed. Keep up the great work!

Great movie @godflesh
