I am a a big fan of the world greatest pound for pound boxer Manny Pacquiao. Just read first 2 chapters of his autobiograpny "Pacman - My Story On Hope, Resilience, And Never Say Never Determination" which I bought in Kinokuniya Bookstore few months back. It was a tremendous journey fighting out of poverty through boxing.

He was born in Tango, Southern Phillippines. His dream was never to become a boxer, he dreamed to become Catholic Priest when he was younger, but putting a meal on the table for his family had made him the greatest boxer in the world. At first, he fought for the monies, but eventually he falls in love with boxing. He admitted that although he was passionate about the sports, he never liked to get hitted. He and his younger brother Bobby were both professional boxers but Bobby quitted much earlier before Manny. Both of them interchanged their tee shirt during a pro bout due to poor living condition that they had to share.

Living in an isolated mountain village in the Philippines and part time job as a fisherman during teenage years had created the perfect physics for him to start off as a boxer. During his school days he and his younger brother always being bullied by their peers for being poor and dirty. Since a young boy, he sold ice drinks, fishes, doughnuts and roasted nuts to support his family of five.

Many times when he was a kid, he missed meals due to lack of food in his village. He started his first fight when other kids bullied his brother in school. One straight jab ended the whole fight with teared lips of his peer, and the rest were history.

In both chapters, he shared his experienced fighting Oscar De La Hoya. Oscar was no match with him and pulled out during 9th round. Manny had mix emotion of happy and sad. He was happy hecause he won the title and sad was because Oscar was his inspiration. The bout to Manny was like calling out his hero Superman. when Superman arrived,he justt wore his cape between his legs and fly away. This is the summary of 2 chapters of this autobiography.
