NO AFFILIATE LINK!

Hello all! Today, I want to share my thoughts about my first couple of weeks trying a different social media platform.

Weku is a Steemit clone that I learned about from @papa-pepper. I figured that if he liked it, so might I. I have only posted a couple of times over there and I am not sure if I will post there much more.

Rewards Pool Abuse
I know that there was and still is some rewards pool abuse on Steemit, but, it has declined quite a bit since I have been here. Two years ago, people created multiple Steemit accounts and spammed the network to upvote themselves into riches, whilst honest Steemians were hard at work scraping up the crumbs left over.

This is no different on Weku. There are Weku whales that got there dishonestly already. I get comments that are upvoted to 30+ Weku dollars by the commenter.

There seems to be some action being taken, but, I hope it isn't too late. It just isn't right that people can so easily game the system. If you are going to clone something, shouldn't you try to make it better than the original?

I see a lot of Steemians on Weku and hopefully we can help. An account going by @amar posted an apology yesterday about such gaming, but, the damage was done and it shouldn't have been allowed to happen in the first place. Do you blame the theif or the open vault?

Originality
Many people, myself incuded, post on Weku the same thing we post to Steemit. Although that is a norm for many bloggers, it doesn't really sit well with me. It isn't that I think it is dishonest in any way, but, when I go to my Weku feed and see everything I just upvoted on Steemit, it makes for a little bit of a stale experience.

If I do continue on Weku, look for original content, because you wont see it here. I want each experience to be different. I think that will draw more users to both platforms. For example, if you liked my 100 word story
(https://deals.weku.io/community-deals/@matthewtiii/long-live-the-queen) on Weku yesterday, you will be able to see something different posted on Steemit. I am also on Smoke.io and my content there will all be cannabis related. That way, if people want to see all of my stuff, they have to see all of the platforms I write on. To me, this is best for the reader, myself, and the platforms I write on.

Time Will Tell
I guess while writing this, I have convinced myself to give Weku a little time to see if it will bloom into something great or wilt and die. I will still not give you my affiliate link though. I don't want anyone hating on me the way the Bitconnect shills got hated on, or pretty soon the Binance shills will be.

I know that there are over 20 other crypto based social media platforms now, but, Steemit will always be first in my heart. This ecosystem has given more to me than I can ever say, and not just the currency, but, the camaraderie and the culture and the people I interact with are more than I ever expected to experience.

Hopefully Weku will be the same. Who's to know? Crypto is a strange and wonderful world.

I hope you enjoyed this, you won't see it anywhere else.

Thank you all, see you next time.

Does having to open the safe make the difference between stealing and not stealing? Everyone hides behind the wording "it's your stake do with it what you want" That is just wordplay to hide dishonesty in my opinion.

Maybe it has to do with having kids I care about and my wanting to teach them to be a good human but I see no difference up-voting yourself for pennies or thousands of dollars. Self-voting to me is no self-respect or community respect. I also don't believe the self-voting for visibility bullshit people use. It is all greed pure and simple. It's not using one's investment, it is abusing one's investment while many hide behind the word community while they self-vote. These are often the same people who call others quitters or not real steemians when they leave and prices are low but at the same time they are getting large self-votes so why would they leave?

I think it is sad when people leave when prices are low but if the dolphins all self-vote themselves 100% and no-one the same way it is honestly them making people leave more than vote sellers.

Steemit will always be first in my heart. This ecosystem has given more to me than I can ever say, and not just the currency, but, the camaraderie and the culture and the people I interact with are more than I ever expected to experience.

Same here and it also reminds me how two-faced people are as they hide behind words while trying to claim differently than they are doing in reality. I am glad we met on Smoke, I think we share some core values and that is awesome.

I am glad we met there too. I also agree with the vault thing, by the way, I was just trying to illustrate.

I have gone back and forth on the self voting thing. I do see your point.

I don't see the harm in voting your own posts, I hope people like their content enough to vote on it. It's when people post 15 shitposts a day or comment and upvote their comments that really sucks. I hate seeing "nice post" with a 30 dollar upvote. It does make self voting look bad as a whole. I wait, usually til the next day, then I vote myself. That gives the rewards mostly to the other voters on my post, not that .01 is much to split haha.

Thanks for the inciteful comment!

The thing is if you upvote your content for a penny it doesn't do much but you set the mind up to see that self-vote as good and/or okay. Once your stake becomes larger you are double dipping with your self-vote. You are making your earned votes and then taking curation rewards out of the pockets of those who vote for you. As you then become author and curator of your own post. It's all opinion but I have more respect for those who sell their vote more than anyone who steals rewards from the users upvoting them to begin with.

I see your point and I think you won me over.

And you are right about visibility, I tried it on Smoke and it does nothing. I am glad everything there is powered up 100% for now. Hopefully, that will cut down on the spam.

I signed up but dont think i could manage to sites.

That is a problem for me as well. I am participating in a few contests, but I don't know if I will do much over there, and, it doesn't feel right to copy paste from on to the other.

I'm the same, what's the point as the people there have probably already read it.

Yes, it's actually quite bad there. No steemcleaners

Not to mention a coin worth nothing. I jave also heard talk of an upcoming ICO for Weku. That seems really scammy.

Yet many are investing a lot time into it.
I'm just posting the same if I can
