Review Film # Linda Linda Linda - 3 days girl band Unexpectedly

in #review6 years ago

When I watch this movie, I'm unconsciously reminded of the films of domestic production who like to take the theme not far from ghost stories and sex comedy. Even if there is a theme outside the "grip" favorite, the film is taken just too heavy to watch by young people and teenagers. As a result, Indonesian teenagers turned their attention to Hollywood production films such as Twilight. Linda Linda Linda's film is supposed to be an example of how to make teenage movies with light stories but interesting enough to watch.

A girl band threatened to disband three days before their last performance at a cultural festival in their school. Guitar players whose hands are injured and vocalists who quarreled with keyboard players became the cause. After the vocalist came out, keyboard player Kei (Yuu Kashii) who became the band leader while deciding to continue their plans for a gig. Nozomi (Shiori Sekine) bassist and Kyoko drummer (Aki Maeda) support Kei's decision, although within three days they have to find new guitar and vocalist as well as practice for the preparation of the show. Finally decided Kei moved the role of a guitar player so stay vocalist position that is still vacant. When the three of them were talking about the vocalist's determination, Kei simply said whoever the first girl who passed in front of the deserted school gate would be asked to become their band's new vocalist. By putting aside the former vocalist passing by, a foreign student from South Korea called Son (Bae Doo-na) appeared. Instantly the three of them invite and persuade Son to join their girl band.

After Son agrees to join, this quartet starts picking songs and practicing them. Because they only have 3 days, they chose to bring cover versions of the famous band Punk Rock The Blue Hearts, of which titled Linda Linda rather than create their own original song. Problems started from Kei the keyboard player who is not used to playing guitar. But what's worse is Son's problem that does not speak Japanese fluently. A short three-day spell made the four of them struggle to make last appearances at a school culture festival not an embarrassing event. As a result, they stayed up all night and sleep deprived. What is the end result of their business?

If you read the short synopsis above, this movie looks very interesting and the theme is very simple. But simple is not unattractive. Indeed there are Indonesian films such as Not Star Biasa which takes the theme of teenagers who wrestle with art, it's just the story and the groove is taken too far-awang. There is also a Hollywood movie that takes the theme of a musical teen drama, but again with a less down to earth story. Look at this movie, the main teenagers of this film does not intend to band to appear on stage at Tokyo Budokan that only exist in their dreams. They just want to appear in the festival of school culture that level only to entertain one school friends. The love story in this movie is just a mere sweetener spice because it hardly affects the plot of the story that focuses more on the relationship between band members. Maybe it's just a shy story going between Kyoko and Kazuya's estranged boys who dominate the band's romantic plot plot.

Initially the film is running a bit sluggish, but along with the entry of Korean characters who shy vocalist to make the film gradually become more interesting. Son Son who is not fluent in Japanese trying not to disappoint his friends by practicing singing his own Japanese song in karaoke. Funny also scenes Son with his Japanese language mediocre argue karaoke employees to get a cheaper karaoke box. Not to mention the desperate effort Son sang Japanese songs in karaoke until finally with half despair pillow banter sing Korean songs set

Korean actress Bae Doo-na as Son is the main attraction of this movie because of the uniqueness of the character of the foreign student. Without Son's character and Bae Doo-na clumsy style of carrying it, Linda Linda Linda might just be a mediocre teen movie. Shiori Sekine and Aki Maeda who performed the role of bass player and drummer were originally musicians, so they are not awkward to play musical instruments in this film. In contrast to Yuu Kashii or Yuu Odagiri (after marrying Kamen Rider Kuuga, Joe Odagiri) who is an original actress and model. At least, the appearance of these cute girls more festive. Surprisingly, perhaps the cameo appearance of Kenichi Matsuyama (L in Death Note) who plays the role of Maki, the guy who has a crush on Son and the Korean girl's "shoot" Korean:

The title of this film is taken from the title song of popular Japanese Punk Rock band The Blue Hearts, which was famous in the late 1980s. There are 3 songs belonging to The Blue Hearts sung by the main group in the film, Linda Linda, Boku no Migi Te and Owaranai Uta. Son Son of Korean students who named their group under the name of The Blue Hearts, Paran Maum (The Blue Heart in Korean). Paran Maum himself released their single CD accompanying album Linda Linda Linda OST worked on by The Smashing Pumpkins guitarist, James Iha. For fans of musical dramas, Linda Linda Linda could be an interesting option to pass the time.
