The road to Krakow

in #roadtosteemfest5 years ago (edited)

It's 21:21 pm. I tried to fall asleep. Couldn't do it. I've never been good at sleeping in busses, though I'm sure I will catch some later when the night really kicks in.

I'm going to be in Krakow really early; I'm arriving around 1 pm on the 3rd, so I have plenty of time before Steemfest. @anomadsoul will arrive on the 5th, but I still have a lot of space before that too. If someone is an early bird like me, I'm open for some pre-Steemfest (inter)action.

I actually saw that @roelandp is arriving at Krakow as well - if hasn't already by the time of writing this. I know this is a bit of a reach perhaps, but if you're not too busy with the errands of Steemfest, I'd be glad to meet you, Roeland.

Anyhow, I will have a good amount of time to get a feel for the city before the company of the "Frat House" is together.

Yesterday in Riga was pretty dope; after wandering around the city, and coming back to the hostel, I went to eat to the kitchen. In the kitchen there was some South-Korean lady teaching Korean alphabet to a Russian guy. Though the Russian was just about to leave back to his home in St. Petersburg, so I didn't have to observe the whole night from the side.

We introduced ourselves and chatted about where we're coming from, where we're going etc. The Russian guy, she told me, had asked her for a date, but she had rejected his request for being tired. But then some other guy had convinced her to go out with him. But as it happened, she stumbled on the path of the Russian. Though to make it even more awkward the Korean lady didn't recognize the Russian guy at first, haha!

This eager, energetic Korean woman seems to attract coincidences, because later the night, a Chinese woman entered the kitchen, whom the Korean had already met earlier in Lithuania - they had booked the same hostel in Riga by chance.

Into the last fourth seat of the small dining table, a young Russian woman tagged along.

We all just had a really good time sharing our perspectives and stories - and our alphabets. Except the Chinese. That would've been too complicated, apparently. I don't doubt, because the Russian one was hard enough after a good 6 hours or so of talking and dealings with multiple languages.
Heh, thanks for the inspiration from your admiration towards Finnish profanity, @honeydue; I shared with my friends the poetic nature of our swearing. They thought vittu ("fuck/cunt") sounded cute.

Hostels seem to be the only place where it's possible to make friends just like that, with a bit of luck. Well, Steemfest will be another one, I'm sure.

Brghhghg... 7:40 am. I actually fell asleep. Nice. We are now in Warsaw, so not long anymore until Krakow. I'm bit groggy right now and out of words now so,

Yeah, no worries, that was just one of the stopping points for the bus - I didn't even step outside, haha. And yes I arrived to Krakow already yesterday, but didn't make any update on it, because I was tired.

Świetnie! (fine!). So now it's time for relaxing, good food and beer! :) If you need any help or information just let me know, or find @saunter, my buddy who is going to be on Steemfest3.

Yeah, I found this Himalayan restaurant with a buffet today, so I'm getting my stomach full. I think I will leave bear for Steemfest though. Btw, you know if there's any gluten free beer?

Check this list of good pubs with craft beer in Krakow. There should be an information if it's GF or not. There are some Czech beers without gluten, they should be avalieble there.
