Road To SteemFest (Week 6) - Funding My Trip To Kraków

I cannot believe we are less that 2 months away from the SteemFest 3 festivities and I am getting a bit excited about the whole thing in general. I have already booked my flight and hotel, while I should be getting my ticket this next week... hopefully the price of Steem will continue to rise a bit before then.

It’s funny to say, but it feels a bit like a high school reunion.. even though, I know.. I know.. we have never actually met. I find it interesting how individuals that we meet here can quickly become so familiar, without ever even being in the same room.

We have these connections because of our interactions on the platform, we have built friendships and there is this feeling of knowing each other. Because of that, to me it feels a bit more like reconnecting, rather than meeting for the first time. Which I believe was exactly what @anomadsoul had in mind when he started these weekly get to know each other posts. So, nice work Eric.. mission accomplished 😉

This Week’s Topic Is...

Funding My Trip To Kraków

Like many others attending, I am not rolling in mountains of cash. I know, weird right? I’ve recently moved cross country and essentially am starting over completely. But because of the plans to build a small house. I have a bit of saving that I am able to pre fund the trip with. Seeing that that savings is actually intended to build my home though, it needs to be replaced sooner rather than later.

My goal is to pay for the trip 100% in Steem... now I’m not going to go into how Steem sitting at less than a $1 is really putting a burden on that, because well.. you all already know that. And quite frankly, I’m confident it won’t stay there for long.

In order to reach that goal, I have been trying to post a bit more and also enter various contests to help with the actual expense. Coming from America, the trip is not cheap.. but it will be worth it and I’m confindent in my ability to replenish my house fund in the months to come with Steem earned here.

One of the most amazing things that have come from this is that some individuals have actually done fundraising posts in my honor. This completely baffles me, while making me want to cry to be honest... and I’m not a crier. The idea that someone who I have never met would be inspired to do such a thing pretty much makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world. So, you guys know who you are.. Thank you...seriously from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. I owe you guys some serious hugs and lots of baked goods.





I plan to continue to post and share about this insane journey I am on with all of you, that part hasn’t changed a bit. But now, instead of powering up all my earnings, I’m going to be using them to pay my way to SteemFest3.

Which on one hand means my account will sit in it’s sad Minnow status longer than I had hoped, making my ability to uplift other users a bit harder. But, the fact that I will actually be paying for a trip overseas to attend SteemFest, using only the rewards I’ve earned here is pretty amazing. I think it shows the potential of this platform and that alone makes me excited for our future here, and I’m excited to be going on this journey with all of you.

I look forward to meeting old friends and making new ones come November. It will be an adventure we won’t soon forget.
