Road to SteemFest: Shoutouts and namedrops

Steemfest is flying up and I haven't really prepared anything for it. Oops.

I think I might be able to squeeze this post into the right time frame at least. I have been holding off on writing the "Shoutout" post for some reason, perhaps it is the shill of it :D No, it has just been a disjointed week and there is always something else that comes along to interrupt.

By the way, that is kilometers an hour, not miles and I will say, I didn't take the photo while driving if anyone asks.

Really, there are so many people I am hoping to meet at Steemfest that it is hard to really call people out by name without missing so many of them. I will be spending quite a lot of time with a few by default as we already know each other pretty well, even if we haven't met face to face; @anomadsoul, @abh12345, @celestal (we have met), @raj808, @guyfawkes4-20, @fukako, @eveuncovered, @escapist.

@eveuncovered, @escapist, @celestal are Finns so we are able to have secret conversations in Finnish that no one else will understand. Do you know that scene from Charlie's Angels? Yeah, I speak worse Finnish than they did in that movie.

However, there are some other people that I don't know so well that I am also looking forward to meeting if I have the chance. @blocktrades is one (or two) as I would really like the opportunity to thank in person for the support over the last year, it has meant a lot to me and I hope I will be able to do some good with it. This also goes for @pharesim who I have chatted with and had some good discussions over the last year and a half and hope to spend some time getting to know, because I have heard that he is pretty cool ;)

There are others who have supported me heavily I would like a chance to thank also like @acidyo, @v4vapid and @canadian-coconut but I don't think any of them will be at Steemfest so I have to give my gratitude here in writing.

This is my first Steemfest but my plan is to get a better feel for different aspects of the platform so that next year I can spend more time working and developing some projects I have in mind. This of course is dependent on many factors but hopefully getting to know some of the people and sharing some ideas will provide some direction and moral support for some potential changes in approach to the platform for me.

Having said that, I am also keen to hear and get a feel of what some of the people I have interacted with to some degree on the platform and in chats are like. People like @gtg, @lukestokes, @timcliff, @scipio, @meno, @elear, @therealwolf, @revisesociology, @slobberchops, @llfarms, @teamsteem, and @exyle are like and what kinds of personalities they have with a drink in their hand over a casual conversation.

@ned you and your hair are definitely not left out of this so I hope you don't mind when I ask to get a picture of me touching it.

Who am I missing??

Oh, @crimsonclad of course, @evecab, @coruscate and @soyrosa who are all actively around the platform but I hardly see :)

It is interesting how many people come and go around the place on Steem yet we don't run into each other nearly enough. Hopefully Steemfest will be a place where some stronger relationships are built that will lead onto some new projects and initiatives in the coming year. For me at least, meeting people behind the blogs and votes helps make all of this concrete and gives the chance to really understand what is possible here. I hope to see you all there as well as the hundreds of others I didn't mention.

Oh, and since I haven't used it yet, this is @rubencress's banner to close the post.

Sort:

I think it's pretty cool that we kind of already have a little click of our own, even though most of us haven't even met yet. It lowers the bar of going and calms the nerves of us socially awkward types 😅

Right? Some social circles already feel like home, SF is going to be like a one week long Christmas family dinner.

Honestly, it's going to be a bit weird for me in the beginning because my English accent sucks ass but, everything should be just about fine after the first day or, after a few glasses of cheap Whiskey. :)

We a crew now

I feel pretty darn lucky and proud to be in this crew❤️

I agree. I am a bit nervous going into places where I know no one at times but I think this will be a soft start :)

Compared to last year, I feel so much more at easy about the whole event and I think I can enjoy myself a lot more. It's so special to have these connections ahead of time.

Not so long now, 3.5 weeks and it will all be kicking off. I hope it's as good as the hype. People tell me Lisbon was great, I can see this being even better.

I think it will be an 'excuse the weather' thing but that just means more time inside at the bar ;)

You know, I sometimes feel there are secret communities I don't know about and where some people meet and I just keep looking and looking but I can't find the door to that awesome place? :')

I actually hope we get to meet and have a good chat because I admire your input and content and hard work on the platform - but also acknowledge the need for a personal connection or being able to put a face to the paragraphs - it's what makes me so so excited that in less than 4 weeks we can see each other 'come alive'!

See you in a few weeks Taraz!

There are!! You need a password. I don't have one. :D

I am looking forward to meeting you too and I think that once we all get together, we will be able to get some connections going for after too :)

I'm absolutely sure we will :D Maybe the secret password will turn out to be #wenttosteemfest3 ;-)

Hope you all have an amazing time in Poland. I am working hard to make it next year and meet you in person. The people you mentioned in this post are great. I was fortunate to hang out with @coruscate at the last two Steem Creators conferences as well as @steemcafe, @jongolson, and @larrymorrison. They are all good friends of mine and have made a big impact on my life. Excellent post @tarazkp looking forward to future updates 🥂

It is great to see that people are meeting more and more in the real world. For Steem to really have the impact it could, it has to connect the blockchain to our lives and relationships rather than just digitally. :)

It’ll be fun to see everyone:) and when you Finns are going to speak Finnish I’ll pretend that you are Moomins :D

I am the only one with the right body shape for the part :)

Oh, you're coming too @fukako! I didn't know!

I'd love to be a Moomin, that means I could sleep over winter.

Is that when Nuuska muikkonen does his serial killer-ing ?

🤣Haha, don't know about that, but I have a theory about Nuuskamuikkunen that during winter he doesn't go south, but to indulge in brothels beyond the mountains, and the Moomins are his descendants.

Sure, he might be killing prostitutes. that works too.

I hope you can read this, from Venezuela we send you many greetings, and on behalf of many Venezuelans that we are living a dictatorship, we must thank the existence of steemit, because many Venezuelans steemit has saved our lives, my most sincere gratitude to all those great characters that will be there. Especially from you on my part. I hope you can really enjoy that event. And that everything goes very well ..

I hope it goes well too and things ease in Venezuela soon for everyone there also.

Oh no Taraz, look what you did! (Or didn't.)

I will have to make up for it :/

I'm looking forward to it. Although I do tend to zone out after a few beers so I probably won't be with it for much of the wknd!

I am actually on a strict drink slow rule for the entire week so I can take pictures of you zoned out. ;)

Be my guest... my secret power is looking exactly the same when I'm drunk as when I'm sober.

It's a bit crap ranked alongside invisibility and time travel, but it's come in handy a few times over the years.

This paired with invisibility would likely be the way to go.

I agree. I would welcome those friendships as they create the organic elements of Steemit. A good read. Thanks @tarazkp

Enjoy Steemfest!!! Wow, all the way to Poland?

All the way is not very far for me :D

Still like 1500 km right?
