This is one of the first automated posts for the Run Burgundy Decentralized Running Group.

I'm gonna start asking people to see if they're interested in joining.

Ladies and Gentlemen, can I please have your attention? I've just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story, and I need all of you to stop what you're doing and listen...

This is the official semi-unofficial launch post for the Run Burgundy running group!

The idea is pretty simple:

  • Make yourself a (free!) account for athletics tracking at Runalyze (open-source running / athletics analytics site);
  • Post some GPS tracked runs/bikes/hikes to your new Runalyze account;
  • Talk to some people at #FitNation (try the discord) to prove you're real and meet peoples;
  • Vote on these daily posts to increase their rewards;
  • At the end of each week, the SBD rewards get distributed based on kilometres travelled!
    I'm gonna work out the details of weighting biking/running/hiking appropriately so the cyclists don't take everything too easily, but that's the gist of it! Lets get moving! All you need to do is sign up for a (free) account at Runalyze, and ask to be followed by this account.

This is still a work in progress, and there are some features to come -- such as:

  • Autovoter if users write a post with #fitnation tag;
  • Decentralized races;
  • Leaderboards;
  • Featured users;
  • I'm really just kinda making this up as I go...

Hey everyone -- I feel like this is an appropriate place to discuss some tweaks to the project. First and foremost, I'd like to impose a weight of 1/3 on all km's cycled (not only so my brother, with his long-ass bike to work doesn't take all the glory). A quick google seems to suggest that a 1:3 effort ratio isn't very crazy.

I think there's also a strong possibility that, in order to encourage people to support these posts, there will be a multiplier (or maybe a de-multiplier is more accurate) put onto your rewards based on voting record.

If you give seven upvotes (vote on each daily summary post) you get a 7/7 multiplier on your payout (i.e. you get 100% of what you can possibly earn based on how much you ran / cycled). If you only gave five upvotes, you'll get a 5/7 multiplier. Still considering about what to do in regards to a 50% vote, or 100% vote. I'd like to implement something that's fair. Thoughts?
