It's About Time (Fifty Word Contest)

It's about time

Kneelin' on the cold bank floor, she is breathing shakily. Her heart is pounding so fast she can hardly make out what the robbers yell.

Short aiming at the clerk.

Tall at at the clients.

Tall passes out. Gun slides in front of her.

Dad's shooting lessons must pay off now.

The piece was my new entry for this week's Fifty Word Story Contest held by @gonzo and @sarah-xx on Whaleshares.

The new prompt is the word "Trigger".

The word trigger in this piece can be spotted twice. You can spot it literally, in the guns the characters are holding and metaphorically as her brave (or stupidly courageous act) will trigger a series of events she cannot predict with certainty.

I hadn't written anything for the past weeks, as I could not find the inspiration. But this time the story formed in my head right after I had read the new post. I knew I wanted to write something with suspense, a cliffhanger to make the reader imagine a bunch of possible endings to the scene!

How would you finish this scene?
I'm curious to know...
