There are $1,000,000 up for grabs for Steemians
If you haven't heard about it yet, there is a treasure hunt going online called Satoshi's Treasure Hunt. The goal is to obtain 400 keys out of 1000 existing ones that will grant access to an account with 1 million USD in Bitcoin (not sure if it's only approx though, because if it's a fixed amount, it obviously can be more or less than 1 million). Who's behind it?
Apparently a guy called Eric Meltzer is one of the guys behind this, but there are 18 others for governance reasons, so that no single guy would hold all the clues. As far as I've read, this seems to be a real deal.
Why this is a perfect task for Steem(ians) and why more people should be talking about this
This is a global group effort, and even if you are not a technical person to solve some of the puzzles, you could prove to be useful at some point, because some keys can be attained in the physical world only, therefore every person included with the hunt increases the chances of getting the 1 million to home.
Prize distribution
Steem-Engine couldn't have been developed at a better time, because it has allowed the tokenization of the Treasure Hunt. By solving keys, helping with it or by contributing in other ways – even just by spreading the message – one can earn Satoshi's Treasure Tokens (STT) which will be worth $1 (or 1 millionth of the prize) each when/if our Steem clan manages to attain 400 keys to unlock the Bitcoin wallet with the grand prize. So everyone contributing to the hunt will get their fair share.

Good publicity for Steem
Pretty much all the crypto folks – probably some others too – know about this hunt, so this could be a chance to bring some attention to the Steem blockchain – the positive kind, for a change. I don't think people could ignore our ability to get so well organized, trust each others and work together on a global scale to bring home the grand prize, with a prize distribution model and everything!
I think the effort should be in the know of every Steemian, because like said, everyone can help, even just by existing in some place on the planet. So there's really no reason why you wouldn't at least go to the Discord group and make others informed where you are located and make others know as well about the hunt.
We already have 5 keys – which is already the most out of every other group by the way, if I remember correctly, so let's put more Steem into the machine and get more people involved and bring ourselves 1 million dollars!

PS. Take a look at this. It is a post by @stephde where she tells a story how she managed to scoop on of the keys for the team. This whole thing is like a real-life thriller unfolding before our eyes! I can't help but be excited how people are going out of their way and help attain the keys. Make sure to check and follow @blanchy for more regular updates on how the hunt is progressing.
It is a pretty cool idea and I hope Steemians smash it. I wonder, will you all buy Steem with your share? :D
Haha, that is a good question. It seems wrong not to buy at least some Steem with it when Steem has been the thing allowing to win the Bitcoin in the first place. So I will use at least some of the prize to buy Steem :D

Hmm interesting idea, hadn't heard about it before...I wonder if it's really true, though :) Still, it would be cool for someone to win, surely.
Eric Meltzer has been talking about it publicly already in some crypto event. Doesn't guarantee it's true, of course, but as far as I trust my own judgment, it seems legit. If it's a scam Eric and others involved are going to lose all their credibility. While they could do it, it seems to me that there's not much to gain for them to do that.
