Uma campanha mundial chamada Outubro Rosa, acontece todos os anos especialmente no mês de outubro e visa conscientizar a população feminina, mas também a sociedade em geral, sobre a importância da prevenção e do diagnóstico precoce do câncer de mama.
Com o laço cor de rosa como símbolo, a campanha começou em 1990 com a primeira Corrida pela Cura, realizada em Nova York. De fato, ainda hoje muitas localidades do mundo ainda comemoram com uma corrida, inclusive no Brasil, algumas cidades como Teresina e Ribeirão Preto, entre outras, estão organizando corridas e maratonas pela conscientização do câncer de mama.
