Be Courageous

Mark 6:50; But Jesus spoke to them at once. "Do not be afraid," he said. "Be courageous! I am here!".

There are lots of things that bothers us day and night. There are many who go to bed and are able to sleep only because the body is so worn out from exhaustion and thinking in bed that they had to pass out, but then, they wake up to continue with the worrying and fearing. There are those who are afraid of the unknown, uncertainty about future, and there are those who are afraid of their financial instabilities, loneliness, health problems, pain etc. Yes all these are there and they form part of life in this world but they should not cripple us and prevent us from doing what is right and ought to be done. Some people allow their fears to control and direct their lives, eventually, leading them to sin against themselves, God and man.

Today our Text is telling us that we should not be afraid, why? Because Christ Jesus, is here, he is with us, he has been with us from the very beginning and will continue to be with us till the end comes. But we have to acknowledge his presence in our lives, we have to accept him in our lives and allow him to guide and direct our path to that which he has chosen for us. When you allow Jesus into your life, your fears will drift away, and then you will gain new courage, new grounds and new understanding of the operations of this world and the spiritual.
