We are Heirs of God

From the time you are born again, you are no longer a “slave,” but a son of the Most High God qnd beyond just being a son, God calls you “an heir” through Christ (see Galatians 4:7).

So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir. Galatians 4: 7

God has not only made us His children. He has also given us an inheritance with the same rewards as Jesus. We are Joint heirs with Christ. Romans 8:17 says so.

Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

The wealth and possessions of father are beyond measure, and all that the father has belongs to His son. How overwhelming it is to realize that we are joint heir with Christ. All of His inheritance has become our inheritance. All of the riches of heaven belong to Jesus, and because we are joint heirs with Him, all of the riches of heaven also belong to us.

Practically speaking, we are worth as much as Christ does. We are as prosperous as the one who made all things, and did put the gold, silver and diamonds in the earth? ( 1 John 4:17).

However, note the condition: “If so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together. This connotes our readiness to identity with His cross of suffering. It also behooves that though we may be persecuted for standing for the truth of God's word, it doesn't really matter since we envisage a future glory.

Blessed be the God and father of our lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ - Ephesians 1:3

Now! we Possess the inheritance

By faith in Jesus, we are born again into the family of God and become sons and daughters of God. As children of God we receive a promise of inheritance. Here are some wonderful scriptures to confirm this.

... for you are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. - Galatians 3:26

Thus says the Lord God: “if the prince gives a gift of some of his inheritance to any of his sons, it shall belong to his sons: it is their possession by inheritance”. - Ezekiel 46:16

As new creation, we must possess our possessions, we must possess what is rightfully ours by inheritance.

And my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:19

As new creation children of God and joint heirs with Christ, we don’t have to cry and beg God to supply our needs on this earth. All that God has is already ours. All we need to do is find out how to receive God’s riches by faith and obedience.

We receive the power to make wealth

Through Christ, we receive the power to get wealth . This is what Moses said to Israel because of their relation with the same God. By our restored relationship, we qualify for similar blessings too.

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers. - Deuteronomy 8:18

We have a giving nature

It is the father’s nature to give, we can prove this in John 3:16 - "for God so loved the world that he gave". Because God is now our father, this should be our new nature to be givers. Luke 6:38

“give and it will be given to you: good measure pressed down shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measure back to you”.

There is a store house of blessings

As we give to God in faith and obedience, we are handing over to God a measure to use in blessing us. Thereby all our needs are met out of great store of our eternal inheritance. In the book of Malachi 3:10, Bible says

“bring all the tithes into the store house, and prove me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it”

How wonderful it is to know how to receive our blessings as new creation sons and daughters of God

Final Thoughts

Beloved, you are an heir of the Most High God. You are a joint heir with Christ Jesus. It is yours to discover all the blessings that your rich inheritance constitute and start walking into them by faith.

A Call to Action

In Romans 10: 9 -10, the scripture points to action that can be taken to unravel this mystery and enjoy this newness of life.

By believing in our heart that God raised Jesus Christ from death makes us right with God;
By only confessing Jesus as our Lord saves you from all our sins.
