John 21: 15 - 17, NLT

15 After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?[e]”
“Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.”
“Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.

16 Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
“Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.”
“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.

17 A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

That was the question Jesus Christ put forth to his disciple – Peter. The master had to emphasize the question for three consecutive times, though Peter felt embarrassed about it. Today, the same question is directed to us as we about to claim territories in the Telos platform. Thank God for @Sirknight who has been inspired to include this one last question on the Telos expansion form.

Let us take our minds back to the scenario that motivated this great question to Peter. Jesus being with them had foretold them of his impending death and resurrection after three days. Howbeit, the disciples almost got scattered after the Lord’s death and may have forgotten his words to them concerning his resurrection.

The 20th chapter of the Gospel of John gives the narrative on how the disciples were called to alert by a woman – Mary Magdalene about the Lord’s resurrection. Even in the scene, we see the attitude the disciples put forth which seemed as if they had lost devotion for the Lord. Not minding, Christ Jesus revealed himself to them to confirm his resurrection.

The first verse of chapter 21 of John records that after the first experience of meeting the resurrected Christ, the disciples again went back to fishing, probably for a catch for their meals. In my understanding, they may have forgotten that Jesus had taught them how to pray:

"Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.GIVE US TODAY THE FOOD WE NEED, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one" - (Matthew 6:9-13, NLT; Emphasis mine)

Surely, the prayer the Lord taught them contained everything they needed for living. To us as we read, our needs are not met because we toil, work and are hardworking, No! Our needs are met because the Lord had promised to provide. Our daily bread is a privilege we have as sons and daughters of God. As such, all we need to do is ASK.

It therefore follows that as we march into Telos Village, we need to re-examine our love for Christ who loved us first and gave himself for us. This one question we have to answer before a successful onboading into Telos is very crucial for the following reasons.

  • Our love for Jesus Christ is what will determine our priorities as we enter Telos. The blessings that are promised us on Telos is not as a result of our hardwork, rather, a show of God’s great love to us. Therefore, we need to prioritize Christ in everything we do.
  • Again, our love for Jesus Christ is what will determine our allegiance. Telos is a virgin blockchain with great potentials and prospects. We must be resolute as not to forget Jesus Christ. Certainly, in the near future, many will move to Telos, but we have one obligation to remain resolute to our faith in Christ Jesus and then show forth His glory in all we do.
  • Our love for Jesus Christ is what will determine our purpose. As we march into Telos, we must be conscious of spreading the news of the LOVE and FREEDOM we have received through Christ Jesus. His love drew us from the miry and set us on the heavenly places. His word has given us freedom. Thus, we must be conscious of bringing many to this truth and freedom.
  • Our love for Jesus Christ is what will determine our readiness to be co-labourers with Christ in feeding his sheep as he commanded in John 21: 15-16. The blessings that God has allocated to us on Telos is not for our belly alone. We must be ready to feed and raise others by giving more. You see, we have a monthly target of bringing 450 people to Telos. This is because the blessings are not to be consumed in selfishness, we must bring others to see this light.

As I conclude this reflection, remember that the commandments God gave to His people were summarized into two in the New Testament:

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets". - (Matthew 22:37-40 KJV)

The one thing God has called us to do for Him and others is to love. When we love and live in love, we will not sin against God, we will not hurt our neighbours; we will always help them to access the best. May we all rise to this call to LOVE Christ Jesus more than ever, for our victory is in loving Him.
