Operation Blessing of CBN helps thousands of Venezuelan refugees with water, food and medical attention

In its weekly report on aid efforts for Venezuelan refugees in Colombia, Operation Blessing of CBN is reporting that the number of people moving to become volunteers is growing.

With the assistance of Third Wave volunteers, the obstetrics medical team treated 651 patients in La Parada for two days.

Many of the migrants suffered from gastrointestinal diseases due to poor quality food and respiratory diseases due to the difficult journey and descent from the mountains.

In La Carpa, Operation Blessing with its partner of Youth with a Mission served 1,108 meals to Venezuelans who walked through Colombia. The meal included plenty of oatmeal with fruit.

Operation Blessing will be expanding its food service very soon. A new food cart has been delivered to operate in the Church of the Frontier in La Parada.

The Operation Blessing water team completed the installation of a drinking water station in a shelter run by Samaritan's Purse called Yo Soy Jesus.

This station is located on the outskirts of Los Patios on the way to Pamplona. This ministry also added an additional tank to provide potable water for the kitchen in the shelter.

The water team also continued distributing Aquatabs to the Venezuelans who walk so they can treat their water throughout the trip.

In a low-income community Operation Blessing distributed 51 Katadyn filters to poor families there, many of whom suffered from lack of drinking water.

In addition, more than 16,500 Aquatabs were distributed. Aquatabs are tablets that can be added to drinking water to kill most harmful microorganisms. The tablet dissolves in minutes and disinfects the water in 30 minutes.

The Infant Nutrition Station of the Church of the Frontier worked throughout the week and attended to 549 mothers and babies.

Operation Blessing distributed about 30 pounds of formula and baby snacks to visitors to the station who stayed every day during the week.

Venezuela has received great support from all over the world and I will thank you eternally, because although there is difficulty everywhere, there are still people with such a big heart to help others.

That adversity does not stop us from doing good and reaching out to others.

Thank you for all the support you have given us. We are confident that we will get out of this situation of imprisonment.

God bless all the countries that support us and those that are going through situations similar to ours.
