God bless my brothers of steemit.

"For you know that you were redeemed from your vain way of living (inherited from your fathers) not with corruptible things, like gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without contamination."

The apostle was speaking here of the objective work of God in favor of the salvation of people, that is, of their redemption. Dear listener, He had to pay a price for you. You and I have been under the judgment of God, because the Bible says in the book of the prophet Ezekiel, chapter 18, verse 4, The soul that sins, that will die. God has never revoked that decree, and God never changes. It's the same yesterday, today and always. The immutability of God is the terror of the wicked; they would tremble if they thought of that divine characteristic. We hear that we live in a new era, with new ideas and values, but God has not changed. There would be no reason for Him to change, because He knew the end of everything from the very beginning. He is not surprised by the news that amazes us every day. He knows all things --- past, present and future --- and, as we said, He has not left without effect his decision that the soul that sin, die

Now the phrase was redeemed from your vain way of living ... not with corruptible things, like gold or silver. Although silver and gold can be purified when they are placed in the crucible - heated to red so that the slag is removed - they can become corrupted over time. If you have a silver service that you use at your table infrequently to serve your guests, you will find that every time you take it out of the place where it is stored, you will find it dull, dull. Why? (And the same goes for those silver spoons from various cities in the world that some keep as a collection. If you want them to shine their original shine should rub them with a special product used to clean the silver.) Because these objects have the appearance of his corruption. Silver and gold are perishable. And we have not been rescued, redeemed, with corruptible things.

The apostle also said that they had been rescued from their vain way of living inherited from their parents. Dear listener, this life is something empty, vain, a listening friend, without the redemption of Christ. There is nothing lacking in meaning as much as a human life separated from the redemption of Christ. Everything else has some purpose in this world. Each animal and each plant fulfills a certain purpose. The same happens with the sun, the moon and each one of the stars, which fulfill a purpose in the universe. But the life of man without God does not make any sense. Someone has said that humanity is a rash in the epidermis of a minor planet. This is a characteristic of human beings who are separated from God. And as the apostle Peter said, we have not been redeemed by corruptible things --- that is, by any element of this meaningless and empty life. Man has nothing to offer God for his own redemption. Dear listener, what do you have that God might need?

One of the things you learn when you get sick is that God can do things without your help. God has always done things without our help, and will continue to do so. God wants to teach us that what you do is not as important as you believe, and sometimes when you are sick you can learn this lesson; that the important thing is the relationship we have with Him and not what we are doing for Him. Sometimes, when we teach the Word of God, we find ourselves beyond the experience that we are experiencing and He wants us to discover firsthand that this Word It is true, and considers that a little suffering should not harm us at all. On the contrary, the trials of life will shape us, that is, they will shape us according to the way He wants us to be.

What can you and I do or add to redeem ourselves? Well, the truth is that nothing. But then, how can we be redeemed?

The Apostle Peter said here in verse 19 that it would be with the precious blood of Christ. Here again, Simon Peter, that rough fisherman, said that the blood of Christ was precious. As we said earlier, the blood of Christ is not mentioned in some Christian circles, and the expression has been removed from some hymnals used by groups that advocate a non-literal interpretation of the Holy Scriptures and that they believe is a crude expression. But surely the apostle Peter did not consider it that way.

And the complete sentence of verse 19 says: The precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without spot and without contamination. Simon Peter, who lived with Jesus Christ for 3 years, said that He was without blemish and without blemish. He was absolutely immaculate, without sin. So we take seriously the opinion of the apostle --- because he was in a better position to judge the person of Christ than many contemporary authors, who describe Jesus simply as another sinful man. Most authors of our time write to earn money, while the apostle Peter was not involved in a commercial activity. All he got to bear witness to Christ was suffering and, finally, death on a cross. He said that we had not been redeemed by corruptible things, such as silver and gold, but by the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without spot and without contamination. This was an objective statement of our redemption. This was the work that God carried out for you and for me.
