God gives sometimes specific instructions

2 Samuel 5:19
Then David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go against the Philistines? Will you deliver them in my hand? And the Lord said to David, Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hand.

Many times God is not so direct, but occasionally He gives us specific instructions in response to our prayers. If we ask for direction and depend on Him, He promises to direct us in the direction we should go. That's what he did with David in this passage, telling him when and how to attack and assuring him of the result. Often we do not think about asking God for this kind of specific instruction because we do not expect Him to answer us. But He wants to direct our lives - even in the smallest details - and the more we cultivate the habit of asking Him, the more we will learn to listen to His voice and to discern what He is telling us.

Do not be afraid to pray for direction in specific areas of your life, and do not be discouraged if you do not receive your answer right away. It may take a while to learn to listen to the voice of God directing you. But you will learn and enjoy greater intimacy in your relationship with God. He longs to have that closeness to you, so let him take the floor and start asking him questions!
However, we can also notice that God does not always give us the answer we want. Sometimes God says no.
Let's see what 2 Samuel 7.5, 12-13 tells us
.

"And it came to pass on that night, that the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying, Go, and say to my servant David, Thus saith the LORD: Thou shalt build me an house in which I shall dwell ...
12 And when your days are fulfilled, and you sleep with your fathers, I will establish your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will secure his kingdom. 13 He will build a house for my name, and I will establish for ever the throne of his kingdom
"

¡Sometimes God says no!
None of us like to receive a no answer. We do not want to be told not when we ask for help, or not when we ask someone for something, or not when we want to buy something new, we just want to hear if, yes, yes
...!

For example David expected a yes from God - just like nathan the prophet. After all, David wanted to honor God, building a majestic place for his worship. What was wrong with that? In fact, Nathan was so sure of God's yes that he told David to proceed and follow his heart. It seemed to Nathan a good plan with a good intention.
Then God got in. " That night the word of the Lord came to Nathan "And Nathan realized that he had to tell King David that, even though the plan seemed good, it was not God's plan.

When God says no, that does not mean he does not care about us. In fact, it's the opposite. It means that He has a greater purpose, and that He knows the results. What you are asking for can be dangerous, or reckless, or a second option. Or what he asks may be wrong, perhaps his motives or attitudes are wrong. And God wisely says that n0o So when you hear a no from God, trust its wisdom.

You may even be pointing a yes in another direction! David received a frustrating not from God, but he also saw a future yes. Solomon, the son of David, would build the temple with more splendid resources at his disposal than those of any other before him.
Look then at the temple that Solomon built!

The edification of the temple of Solomon was, perhaps, the most important achievement that he achieved during his reign. The circumstances were propitious to carry out David's longing.
When God says no to any of your prayers, give thanks for his wisdom and revelation. and tell him that he will wait for the good that He will give him.
