Is corporal punishments in schools really needed?

Lack of adequate infrastructure and the teachers being expected to manage well above the stipulated students-teacher ratio, turns out to be among the main causes of pervasive corporal punishments prevailing in many schools in India. To be real, one can't turn down the fact that the teachers do really have hard time dealing with children coming from various socio-economic and behavioral backgrounds.They get anguished very easily. In my opinion, emotional intelligence is the key element a person must be searched for as a criteria to be appointed as a teacher.

There are clear guidelines issued by various regulatory authorities of our country on completely eradicating physical/mental punishments(harassments) from all educational institutions. But hardly ever teachers are familiar with them! Not to mention the flawed mindsets of parents that have been proven to be extremely haste in conceding the corporal punishments to be inflicted upon their own children! I wonder am I the only one to find that to be of no logic?!

Despite being a punishable offence, the issue of corporal punishment is still in debate. I often find it disturbing to live in a society where voices of young are being oppressed. Should showing averse to do homework be treated as a big crime? Do their innocent conversations in classrooms amount to non-bailable offence? Would choosing violence as a controlling measure teach them discipline? What is the definition of the so called 'Discipline' at first? Does it even work? Not remotely! Infact, corporal punishment is scientifically proven to be counter-productive!

By the way, my stance is very clear. Any kind of domination over kids is highly deplorable and unacceptable. I would like to emphasize that it is a strong no to it from my end as long as I'm up on the earth, even at the cost of having to bear the moniker- 'Ineffective guy'!
