Are All Satellite Orbits The Same?
No. The oribit chosen for a satellite deoends on its ourpose. Many satellites are launched into what is called a low orbit, about 300km above the Earth. A low orbit satellite circles the Earth in about 90 minutes. Low orbit satellites are the cheapest to launch, since it requirws a low power rocket to get them up. To get a satellite into high orbit - Above 30,000km - the satellite has to be launched first into a high orbit with ine set of rockets. A second set then fores to steer it into the correct orbit.

You nailed it, if all satellites were put to orbit in the same place they would crash with each other and we will have a lot of satellite debris. And of course, as you eloquently put it, it has to do with their purpose.
Also, people are testing the use of specialized drones to get satellites in orbit, this being satellites that require to be on the lower end of the Earth's orbit.
