Citizen Science: Project FeederWatch -- Count #20 Report w/Original Photos

in #science6 years ago

Citizen science is a great way to involve children and adults in the discovery of nature and contributing to scientific research and conservation. Project FeederWatch through Cornell University is a great way to get involved in citizen science. You can learn more at the Project FeederWatch website.

I typically watch birds on Saturday and Sunday. This is my report for 24-25 March 2018.

Really cant believe it, I can see so many beautiful birds have so many colors. But if you go to Indonesia, you cant see beautiful birds like this. They cant free fly because some people will catch the bird.

I did not know that about Indonesia.

I have two more weeks of bird counts to post and share more pictures of the birds in this area.

Have a great week!
Steem on,
Mike

Thats too bad. Do they sell the birds or keep them as pets?

I missed your publications on bird watching @etcmike.
It is beautiful to see all the birds that arrive at the feeders.

My son was checking In their publication, they liked geese and the Northern Cardinal.

All the images are beautiful, blue jay, It is large and its color is very Surprisingly The squirrel very agile to climb the feeders.

You have a good pastime watching the birds.

Thank you, @yenipaola !

Bird watching is fun during the winter months when it is cold outside.

Now the summer birds are arriving to the area, Barn Swallows, Baltimore Orioles, and the Red-headed Woodpecker.

And, oh yes, the agile squirrel was eating nuts out of the feeder this afternoon too. :-)

Have a fantastic week!
Steem on,
Mike

I still remember my 9th grade science teacher, Mr.Pate. He was a huge bird watcher. Most of the birds I can identify today is becuase of him. He took a group of us to St Marks Sanctury in North Florida for a field trip where we saw many of the birds he would show slides of.
Still have a love for birds and nature becuse of him.

Burrowing Owls I took a picture of while I was playing golf.

Those owls are really neat.

I have heard owls in the area but rarely see them.

One night I looked outside at night to see a huge owl sitting on the air conditioning condenser. That was the only time I have seen an owl in this area.

Have a great week!
Steem on,
Mike

Not many owls here either. Not enough big trees
