The Utilization of Cattle Urine to Produce Liquid Fertilizer [Chemistry]

Hello dear steemian, hopefully all still health to read my post on steemit, in this opportunity i wanna share you some utilization of organic liquid base on pet urine.

The people in the village have different livelihoods, on average they are farmers but with different occupations, there are two kinds farmers, the farmers who live in mountainous area the farmers who lives in lowland area, Usually, the lowland farmers plant the rice , mustard greens, spinach etc, while mountainous farmers plant the corn, papaya, chili, cucumber etc. Except they work as farmer, they also shepherding animals as a side job, such as shepherding goats and oxen, such as shepherding goats and cattle. Some of them still use NPK/Urea fertilizer or a fertilizer product of chemical industry, some others use organic fertilizer. The organic fertilizer has two kinds they are solid and liquid, a few years ago they tried to use solid fertilizer but nowdays they begin to use liquid organic fertilizer.

Many raw materials that can be used for making solid organic fertilizer, such as banana stem, straw, cow dung and goat, etc. When they already known that the urine of goats and cows can be utilized as a material for making liquid fertilizer, they took the urine for manufacture of organic liquid fertilizer. What is liquid organic fertilizer ? Liquid organic fertilizer is a decomposition solution of organic material derived from animal waste residues containing more than one nutrient.

We can call it as result/product of fermentation process or a substance that can fertilize the plants from organic liquid materials, The wet organic material has high water content ,so it is better for a material of liquid fertilizer, the wet material can also from fruits liquid such as tomatoes and pumpkins etc. The cellulose content of an organic material (Carbon/Nitrogen ratio) can affect the decomposition by bacteria, from some other sources said that cattle urine is very good for some pesticides as pest eradication of the plants. The chemical content of cattle urine are about;

The Process

The Initial stage of manufacturing of liquid organic fertilizer by mixing cow urine with fruits, whether it is tomato, pumpkin, cabbage or carrot etc., before urine is mixed into the fruits, The urine should be deposited for several days under sun light sun, to speed up fermentation process they use EM4 as a catalyst. the fruits that will be mixed should be smoothed then the urine and fruits soaked for several weeks in a sealed container. the advantages of liquid organic fertilizer is not to damage the soil or plant though often used, and the typical smell of urine can also kill pests, liquid fertilizer is easier to use because it can be utilized with spraying. In addition, the liquid organic fertilizer can also stimulate the roots/seeds of the plants, stabilize the nutrients and also can reduce organic waste.

Chemistry Explain

Actually, the process of making fertilizer is the utilization of Nitrogen elements, for example, Urea fertilizer with the chemical formula NH2CONH2, it was first discovered by Frederich Wohler (1928) by reacting Cyanate salt with Ammonium Hydroxide (NH3), the present of invention is a proof that organic material can be obtained from inorganic substances, the urea fertilizer production is a result of reaction between Carbon Dioxide (CO2) with Ammonia (NH3), both of these compounds come from natural gas. Chemically, the forming of fertilizer reaction can be written with the equation ;
CO2 + 2NH3 => NH2COONH4

The reaction of carbon dioxide with ammonium hydroxide forms Ammonium Carbamate,then aluminum carbamate forms urea and water.

NH2COONH4 => CO(NH2)2 + H2O

The heating or rising of temperature can break down Ammonium carbamate to CO2 and NH3, this is called a back and forth reaction. The urine of cattle contained Ammonia Compound or Nitrogen element, this substance make a urine can be made as fertilizer, although the process


Conclusion

Sometimes, the farmers were difficult to get fertilizers (urea) because their necessity are sufficient for their living costs, but with utilization of urine as a raw material for making organic liquid fertilizers could save their live cost and reduce organic waste of their pet, and their science and experience will grow if they want to develop a way of making organic fertilizer from natural source, even sometimes we have to ask them about their new experience about what they have done, even if they don't understand a basic of science (elements or chemical compounds), but they can try by looking at material characters.
