51 % Of Young American Believe That Humanity Can Go Extinct In 15 Years

The results of the newest sociological poll show that about half of young American believe that just within 15 years the Earth will no longer be habitable.

The poll conducted by the Scott Rasmussen and HarrisX agencies in September 2019 shows that 29 % of people in the USA think that there is at least a chance that the Earth will become inhabitable and humanity will go extinct. But there are huge differences among age categories. For example, 51 % of people younger than 35 years old believe this but only 12 % of seniors believe that the Earth will become inhabitable. There are also huge differences between people who live in cities and people who live in the countryside as 45 % of city folk believe that humanity can be destroyed by climate change within the next 10 – 15 years. But only 23 % of people who live in the countryside and 22 % of people from the suburbs agree with them.

Where do these ideas come from? For example, Greta Thunberg in her Europarlament speech said: “Around the year 2030, 10 years 252 days and 10 hours away from now, we will be in a position where we set off an irreversible chain reaction beyond human control, that will most likely lead to the end of our civilization as we know it.”

I am not saying that climate change isn't a serious issue. Nor am I saying that there aren't changes that humanity will have to make to either reverse or adapt to the changes in the environment. But I do not believe that under any possible circumstance (with maybe the exception of nuclear war) that humanity could do to completely make humans go extinct.
