Faith In Aliens Could One Day Replace Traditional Faith

The amount of American who believe in the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life is comparable to the number of Americans who believe in God. And Diana Pasulka from the University of North Carolina thinks that is no coincidence.

The successful professor and researchers recently published a book named American Cosmic in which she argues that the belief in UFOs and aliens is going through the same evolutionary process as was characteristic for new religions in the past. Thus, one day could people have faith that it will be some extraterrestrials from an advanced interstellar civilization who will save or redeem us.

As Diana explained in her interview with Vox on a basic level it nothing really different that something outside of the human sphere communicating with certain people. And whether it's real or not doesn’t really matter. These people then share their experiences with others and another religious story is born.

And is there something that could make alien based religions more successful compared to other religions that got started in the past? Well, there are two possibilities. No. 1 – our advancement in exploring the Universe and no. 2 – fears that the Earth will be destroyed.

Many people think they see some catastrophe happening very soon and there is a deep-seated fear that we will not be able to save ourselves. So? Who will save us? You guessed right. Advanced aliens who will come and tell us how to live our lives.
