Global Warming Is Changing The Color Of The Oceans

in #science5 years ago

Experts from MIT seem to have discovered a natural “warning system” for climate change – the color of the oceans.

Scientists are afraid that the future that is awaiting us isn’t stellar. As Stephanie Dutkiewicz said, by the end of the 21st century we will see a change in color in 50 % of the ocean. This is because when light hit water some of its molecules absorb some of the light. The blue color is absorbed the least and that is why water appears blue. But other factors can affect this, for example, areas with higher amounts of plankton can appear green.

Because of climate change the temperature of water in the oceans is rising as well, so the team from MIT created a simulation that shows how this will affect plankton. Then they compared this model with the previous measurements of light coming from the oceans made by satellites and found that the model is precise enough to predict future changes in ocean color.

If we observe these color changes we might be better prepared for some of the changes that could come because of the larger amounts of plankton in the oceans.

The whole "by the end of this century" thing is complete disinformation. More like the end of the next decade if not sooner. And of course, there is never any mention of ongoing climate engineering programs, the single largest source of catastrophes like this one.
