By Science - You Can't Touch Anything

in #science6 years ago

I was shocked when I first found out about this, science can be so different than what we were told in school or in the streets. To be honest, science (physics, chemistry & math) were simply not for me when I was in school but one day I found about a great YouTube channel called Vsauce, the best scientific channel out there, this guys knows a lot.

So I saw a video on his channel about this crazy physic rule where it says that you cannot touch anything at all.

As we all know we are made from atoms and it's been that way for a long time, everything we touch has different atomic structure and unfortunately, there is no way we can touch that, no matter how much we like to.

So, if you are on a desktop right now and you are touching the mouse to scroll this post, you think that you are touching the mouse at all, instead of that, theoretically you are hovering about your mouse, the border that divides your skin and the mouse is filled with very tiny atoms that we are not able to see them, but its there for sure.

So when you are touching the mouse right now, the gap between your skin and the mouse have a gap and your hand has atoms same as the mouse which they have force fields around them and they can't touch instead of touching they repel each other which creates a gap between you and the mouse that you are touching right now, weird ha?

Thanks to the Pauli exclusion principle your hand atoms and mouse atoms are creating repulsion to each other.

The Pauli exclusion principle is the quantum mechanical principle which states that two or more identical fermions (particles with half-integer spin) cannot occupy the same quantum state within a quantum system simultaneously.

So how do we know that we are touching something hot or cold when we can't touch anything at all? Well, atoms are transporting the hot & cold energy, so when we hold an ice we feel a cold feeling, thanks to those atoms, they transport the cold through the ice atoms to our hand atoms and that's the thing we call a feeling.

Another example is, when you use your knife to cut a bread or apple what you really do is slicing the apple with the knife atoms, so you don't cut the apple but you force the atoms to split thanks to the knife atoms, even they are so tine they do the repulsion so well.

This was weird right? Let's get to the most weirdest part of this article.

What this post explains is just science, but if you see it from human emotions, this can be very sad and depressing and here is why.

When you mother first hold you, technically she hold the atoms of you, she never touched you, same goes with your friends and girlfriend etc.

But its not all that bad, there is still hope to get closer to the things you want to touch and thanks to Vsauce you can do that. You must wonder how can we do that, well actually we are never likely to touch anything, but, if we are radioactive which we are, not huge amount of radioactive molecules are inside us, but when we sleep with a person for over a year, we get more exposure to radioactivity, it's the same when we eat bananas, since bananas are highly rich with potassium, they also have radioactive isotope in every 8000 potassium atoms there is at least one radioactive isotope.

Cool, we are radioactive, so do we stand a chance if we get more radioactive molecules in us to be able to touch something? The answer would still be no, the repulsion will be smaller and you will be closer to touching that person or object.

And here is the brightest side of this post, it's not all that dark into this phenomenon physics article.

When you are growing inside your mom, the DNA from your father and mother are building your human being, so for certain, the only things that you ever were close were your parents, so this means that the only things you come closest to touching them were your parents and your future children. Family is everything.

Hope you guys enjoyed my article.
