Science Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a Science that learns about how to design, build, renovate not only buildings and infrastructure, but also covers the environment for the benefit of human life.

Civil engineering including a profession that has grown for a long time, is estimated to have grown in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia between 4000 up to 2000 BC. The King Djoser Pyramid, known to exist in the Saqqara complex, is recognized as the world's oldest pyramid (aged over 4000 years, or circa 2600 BC), built an engineer named Imhotep. The results of cold hands we can see until now.

Originally the Engineer Profession was owned by the military to build defense, fortresses, military posts, roads, bridges and other war supporting buildings. After the war these engineers needed to rebuild the destroyed city, arranging the city more regularly after the needs. But eventually this profession apart from the military. Civil Engineering. Science that covers Civil engineering include mathematics, chemistry, geology, environment to computer. All of them have important functions in Civil engineering.

The term Civil Engineer itself was introduced by John Smeaton an English nationality who has worked to build many kinds of structures such as "Eddystone Lighthouse" built in 1756.

Civil Engineering itself is divided into several branches namely Structure, Geotechnical, Construction Engineering Management, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, and Transportation.

Profession A civil engineer includes the design / implementation of construction / maintenance of road infrastructure, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, traffic (land, sea, air), channel network system, drainage, irrigation, housing, buildings, minimization of earthquake losses, environmental protection, water supply, financial concepts of the project, project management and so on. All aspects of life are embedded in the content of civil engineering science.

Technological developments require the Civil Engineering profession to deal not only with building projects, but to understand other areas as well as informatics; Computing, which allows for the smooth running of a project in Analysis and Design, and Architecture. Call for example building modeling with AutoCAD, Project Management with Primavera or MS Project, Structural Analysis due to earthquake load, Wind Load, Movable and other loads, all of which can be modeled with Computer help. This will certainly reduce the factors that cause structural failure. The result is from 1960 to 70s, the first computing project used to design the Sydney Opera House.

It is hard to imagine how buildings like Burj Dubai, Petronas, Taipei can be understood to be built without computer analysis.

Civil engineering seems to have applications in most parts of our life. Transportation is also part of it, I did not new earlier. Well described article.
