Definition of mental health

Scientists and doctors agree that physical health is the safety of the body from diseases and pains and the integrity of internal organs, in addition to the soundness of the functioning of the vital processes and functions of the active, but the definition of mental health can not be as simple as some scientists have seen, as the implications of the self and its capabilities and level of safety and their compatibility is not tangible material possible to measure, but inferred through the conduct of external individual interactions and responses, and different definitions of mental health in different societies, culture and behavioral norms that take place, and different beliefs and cultures adopted by the Scientists, [2] , and accordingly, the simple and comprehensive mental health definition: the individual is prevalent and persistent case where it is stable and compatible psychologically and socially, in addition to the feeling of happinessWith the self and with others, and thus the ability to achieve and self-esteem, and to exploit the skills and self-competences to the maximum extent possible, that is, the positive character of the individual's behavior and attitudes towards himself and others, and thus be a happy and balanced and good character. The importance of mental health

Mental health is of great importance to the individual and society, it cultivates happiness, stability and integration among individuals, and has an important role in the selection of healthy and balanced treatment methods of social problems that may affect the integrity of the process of psychological growth of the individual, and can be summarized some important points of the importance of mental health as The following: [4]

  • Self-stability of the individual, his life free of tensions and fears and a relatively permanent sense of calm and tranquility and self-confidence.

  • Mental health creates stable and healthy individuals. The more healthy parents are, the more likely they are to be raised by psychologically stable children. The stable, psychologically stable family has cohesion, synergy, and inner and outer strength, thus increasing society's strength and cohesion.

  • Mental health is effective for the individual. It gives him the opportunity to open his own horizons and the ability to understand himself and others around him, and make him more capable of controlling and controlling emotions, emotions and desires, and directing behavior properly away from abnormal responses.

  • The individual's enjoyment of mental health makes him more able to deal positively with different problems and balance the emotions when falling under various life pressures, overcome them, and assume responsibilities without escape and withdrawal.

  • Mental health makes the individual compatible with himself adapted to his community, often his behavior is sound and beloved and satisfactory to those around him.

  • Mental health is of great importance at the economic and productive levels, and the realization of the principle of social development . The mental health of the individual is capable of taking responsibility and the use of his or her energies, abilities and competencies to the maximum. The integrated personality of the individual makes him more effective and productive.

Factors of deterioration of mental health

The psychological, environmental and social life of the individual has a negative or positive impact on the mental health rate. The World Health Organization (WHO), in its short report on mental health, emphasized the different and varied factors affecting mental health, such as physical manifestations, heart disease , depression , , Drug and drug abuse , poverty, wars, insecurity, despair, low incomes, widespread unemployment, and violations of women's rightsChildren, and methods of violent and improper family upbringing, etc., all these environmental, psychological and social factors deprive individuals of psychological stability and mental health, and thus the spread and emergence of deviations, anxiety and inappropriate behavioral patterns and many other negative effects. Ways to promote mental health

There are many ways and means to promote mental health in the life of the individual and those around him, which are mentioned, but not limited to: [6]

  • Pay attention to the basic biological needs of food, drink, sleep and rest.

  • Helping to create a positive image and a proper direction towards oneself through positive self-affirmations in all situations.

  • Relax as much as possible in all life situations, and stay away from psychological concerns, stress and fear.

  • Pay attention to the overall appearance and maintain personal cleanliness and elegant appearance.

  • Set a clear goal for life and constant and diligent pursuit of it.

  • Healthy and non-violent family education towards children and adolescents.

Manifestations of mental health

Show the fruits of mental health on the individual in all aspects of personal and social interactive, and were as follows: [7]

  • Balance and emotional maturity: the individual is able to balance in the responses and emotions towards different stimuli, and the ability to face and overcome pressure, in addition to the ability to express emotions in a clear and mature way away from exaggeration.

  • Motivationalism: Motivationalism is the internal motivation that drives the individual to various achievements and the constant internal pursuit of directing abilities and abilities to achieve goals.

  • Feeling happy : It is one of the most prominent manifestations of mental health due to psychological stability and safety and internal tranquility.

  • Psychological compatibility: It is the internal acceptance of self and abilities and potential, and the ability to obtain the degree of satisfaction of the needs in the environment and taking into account the surrounding variables.

I think that what causes more deterioration of our mind is the chronic stress caused by all our worries. However, not all stress is bad, stress is a very useful defense mechanism of the body, in the mornings we have higher amounts of a Hormone called cortisol and this makes us watch out for any danger but stress out of control is very worrying and the way to solve this stress is to improve our daily planning and thus avoid it being so heavy the day, avoiding routines and especially avoid follow the same behavior patterns every day, very good contribution !.
