Introduction
Scorum is a blockchain powered sports media platform built for sports fans worldwide. It is a platform built on the Graphene blockchain same as steemit and golos. It utilizes the Delegated Proof of Stake Consensus. Source
It is a platform that tends to reward sports fans worldwide. Every day, sports events take place all over the world with millions of fans watching it. Sports websites generate millions of visits daily from sports enthusiasts.
What do the sports fan get in return? Aside from the fun, banters, cups win celebration, they get nothing. Very little is done to reward the sports fans. This is where scorum comes in. scorum looks to onboard every sports fan and create a rewarding environment for them. The fans are recognized and rewarded by scorum. The aim of this post will be to talk about the many functions of scorum and recent updates on the platform.
Scorum core functions
In a bid to reward sports for their passion, scorum has three core functions providing different services to sports fans.
The blogging platform
This is where content creators (Authors) and curators are rewarded. User posts are rewarded by means of upvotes from other users.
The statistical center
Sports fans know the usefulness of statistics. Scorum has integrated a standard statistics center where users can check the statistics of their favorite athlete, team. They can also embed some of the statistics graphics into their articles.
The commission-free betting exchange
Users and sports fans can place bets against one another using the native coin of the platform called Scorum coin (SCR).
These are the three core functions of scorum in a bid to reward sports fans all over the world. As at the time of writing this post, the blogging platform and the statistical center are the only active ones. The commission-free betting exchange is scheduled to start by Q4 of 2018.
Launched on June 13, 2018, for the general public, scorum has over 25,000 registered users. The scorum platform has undergone some major updates in a bid to improve user experience and bring scorum close to everyone.
Major updates on scorum
Inability to upvote your own comments.
An issue involving a user named Williams who goes around upvoting his comments, thus raping the reward pool means the scorum team/developers have to do something. A lasting solution was found. Users can no longer upvote their own comments. This will reduce the upvote abuse to an extent.
News Feed
The blogging platform is growing with new users signing up daily. The following and followers list of players too is growing day by day. It is now hard to know your followers or followings username offhand. Hence, the news feed was birthed. The news feed is composed of articles of users you follow. You can now keep up to date with users you follow.
Browser push notifications
Though the scorum blogging platform has a notification feature, you have to visit the blogging platform to check your notifications. In order not to miss any conversations and updates again, the browser push notification was launched. You just have to accept the request to send push notifications to your device. Notifications on your scorum accounts, interactions will be sent to your internet enabled device as a push notification saving you the stress of visiting the platform.

Scorum language domains
In a bid to bring scorum to every sports fan in all corners of the world. Language domains were created for different countries. Sport is global which means not every user speaks English or French. Scorum believes every voice must be heard. 19 language domains are available on scorum. They include

- Scorum.es for the Spanish speaking community

- Scorum.vn for the Vietnamese
- Scorum.tc for the Turkish
Users can blog through their language domains and feel free to make posts in their native languages there. This will reduce the rate of plagiarism and bring scorum closer to the local community and beyond.
Conclusion
Scorum still in its infancy has seen major updates in the quest to be the most preferred and number 1 sports media platform. It aims to be globally adopted by sports fans and with the never-ending developments on scorum, it is destined to be the next big thing on the blockchain.
Thank you for this update. Scorum certainly seems like an interesting platform for sports fans. I'm impressed by all of the domains, and you used screenshots effectively.
However, I feel like this post could have been more informative. How is Scorum better than the many betting sites out there? How is the blogging platform superior to those built on Steem? Why Graphene? You had a huge ICO, why not talk about that? I see that you can buy SCR with ETH, but what about other currencies? Specifically, what about Steem? Posts on Steem don't have to be about Steem, of course. But the local crowd is curious. Also, what's the source of the stats? Are they updated in real time?
Finally, I think better attention to style and grammar could have improved the post.
Critique aside, I am keen to see how Scorum progresses. I'm an NBA fan, so I have a specific interest. I look forward to your next update.
