When I heard about the announcement of the launch of a new Assassin's Creed less than a year after the launch of Origins, it seemed like a bad joke. I did not understand the meaning of taking another installment with so little when precisely, that was what had brought the decline to the saga.

It is true that we have several stories within the main game story, and that to finish it well it is necessary to do them all. On the one hand, the story of Kassandra herself and her family, on the other the present and the history of the cult.

In itself, the concept of that division has seemed a success: Each type of player who follows the story he likes, especially for those who want to return to the real world and the precursors. But once, it is still not enough, parking the essence of the saga and summarizing it to monologues about the precursors that are so indecipherable that they don't go anywhere.

We return to leave all the weight in the story of the protagonist, in my case Kassandra, but leaving the history of the present or even the cult itself as something secondary and with less weight. And although everything is intertwined and gets a single story (our odyssey), it is true that this system is missed that exploits its full potential and that all the lines of the story have the same weight. It will be me, that if I want to see a Greek family drama I would watch a series, I don't need it in a game, or at least, not only that.

There was a long and lengthy talk about the issue of the difficulty of the game, that if it forced you to buy a DLC to be able to advance properly and other hoaxes look for clickbait. As I explained, it makes no sense to buy anything to adjust the difficulty of Assassin`s Creed Origins.

Let's see if I can make it as clear and concise as possible: The difficulty depends solely and exclusively on the player, and on his ability to handle clothing and weapons, and how they affect the damage we do to enemies. Perhaps the only downside of the game is not to explain this new mascadito system, and let it be you who has to discover it as you go.

Assassins Creed Odyssey is the best of the new batch of games, it is better than Origins, but it also makes its own mistakes. It's not the perfect Assassin's Creed, but it's an outstanding game.

We still do not see the essence of the saga, increasingly diluted in its attempt to get closer to The Witcher than an Assassin's Creed to use, but it is undeniable that, even without essence, we are before a large, very large game. Not only in extension, but in hours and in playability.

Without a doubt, one of the Assassins Creed that I have enjoyed the most, and that has provided more hours of hitching, continuously without ever getting bored. Essential within the saga and outside it.
