How to make an appliqué / アップリケの作り方・つけ方

There was a small hole on my daughter's pant. I looked for ready made one I can attach by ironing at stores but I couldn't find one I like in an ideal size. So now it's time to make one by myself. It was quite easy. I used leftover fabric and fusible interlining fabric. I could attach it with my less expensive home use sewing machine. Photos below show you how did I do it :)

子どものズボンに穴が開きかけていたのでアップリケをつけました。当初お店で既製品を探したものの気にいるものがなかったので自分で作りました。接着芯も布も家にあった残り物です。うちの1万円ほどのシンプルな家庭用ミシンでも十分つけることができました。

Cut out fabric in the shape you like. I put fusible interlining fabric on the back side of the appliqué to make it less stretchy and strong.

Place fusible interlining fabric on the back side of the appliqué.

Attach the appliqué with zigzag stitches. 2-3 rounds. Ease-stitching in advance helps you.

Cut out the redundant fusible interlining fabric on the backside.

Done!

That's it! With a more complicated design, you can apply this to holes on adult clothes. If an appliqué is small it may be appropriate to had sew it. I would like to try this to mine when I have a hole on my clothes :)
