Biggest Bee I’ve Ever Seen, What Species Is It???
I have lived on the west coast of Canada on Vancouver Island my entire life and have never seen a bee like this before!
Not only is the thing massive but the all black body with only yellow on the head and butt is completely different than anything I am familiar with.
I wonder if this is a species of honeybee or if this would be considered a bumblebee?
Either way it’s good to see them out in full force pollinating the flowers!
That's a HUGE BEE! wow. NO idea what kind, other than, the kind that you should run away from.
It doesn’t seem to be an aggressive species at all, was able to get right up and personal to take those pictures and it didn’t even seem to notice me 😅

Maybe this bee eat steroid before going working.

I think it must’ve found a special type of pollen 😆

Maybe. ;)
Yeah we call them bumblebees here in Michigan.
That’s too bad I had hoped maybe a new honey bee keeper was in the area 😅

Looks like Bombus vosnesenskii or maybe Bombus caliginosus.

Ahh so it is a bumble bee, odd that I haven’t seen this species before 🤔
