The Amna Suraka Museum
Names of all the perished Kurdish are displayed in this room.
Many countries sold mines to the then Iraq government, and now many others are helping to clear lands of the mines.
The Amna Suraka museum is very sad. It is in memory of the Kurdish genocide under the regime in 70-90s. The Hall of Mirrors contain 180,000+ shards of mirror representing the number that perished in this region. Hopefully through education and recognition history don't repeat.
In the complex we visited the torture building, designed by then East Germany, which housed and tortured many Kurdish people. They were taken here because of fears they were the resistant fighter Peshmanga.
The museum was opened officially by a Kurdish man that was born inside the prison. His mother was taken in there because his father was involved in the resistant. Him and his mother was lucky to be alive during the liberation of this prison.
This museum is open to everyone and at the centre of the city of Suleymaniyah.
