Electron Microscope High Voltage Interface

in #share2steem5 years ago (edited)

High Voltage Interface, inside a big ol tank, and Plug (300kV). That plug is about 3.5" at its base and tapers down to 2.5" over 12" length, where the prongs are. The cable that the plug is part of is about 3" in diameter and mostly dielectric, the actual conducting wires are about 3/16 " thick stranded wire. It may seem odd that you would have such thick insulator around not incredibly thick wire. However if you consider the electricity - water analogy it makes sense. High Voltage electricy is essentially high pressure, and like water pipes, you need stronger or thicker walls to contain the pressure, with electrics you need more insulation. #share2steem #steemstem #science #electricity #highvoltage
