Another Music Related Silver Coin!
It's been a while since I've posted a silver/gold related post... but rest assured @ssg-community, I'm slowly adding to my little stack... I've also started to get quite interested in picking up old silver circulation coins at around the melt price for their silver content. I've found a few sellers on eBay who I trust and have relatively low shipping costs (and most importantly can hold orders for a week or two to combine shipping!)... Most of these coins, I can pick up with some smart bidding at a decent price...I've gotten quite a few of the smaller denominations, but every now and then I get lucky with a larger value (and hence a larger coin!).
This particular coin caught my fancy as it is a music related coin... an Austrian 1967 coin (0.900 Ag, Numista) that is in commemoration of the 100th year of the Blue Danube Waltz. What is quite interesting is that the managed (even with 1960's technology... or maybe because of it...) to get the actual human not looking like a complete ghoul. Often I see modern coins where the eyes and teeth of a person make them look like hideous souless flesh eaters...
... and as a musician, I'm also stunned by the fact that they actually got the violin holding posture right! These days, you see many attempts at "violinist" photographs... where the model is actually not a violinist and is completely butchering the way that you hold the instrument... well, these are the days that we live in... where you need a good looking model over any actual substance...
Now, personally I think that the entire Austrian Waltz genre of music is a horrendous crime against good musical taste... being the musical equivalent of a lollipop... but I'm generally outvoted by the vast population of the planet for whom this is one of the most recognisable pieces of "Classical" Music.
It is perhaps best known for it's regular appearance at the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert... something that my parent's would tune into yearly...
... or made famous in the over 70s crowd by the world famous Andre Rieu... a Dutchman who has made an enviable fortune and degree of fame selling a sugary product of a concert... Now, don't get me wrong... the group is pretty decent and he is as well as a musician... but like I said before... too much lollipop is not a good thing!
... anyway, the back side of the coin is less interesting... it is the usual back for most of the coins from that era of Austrian coinage. The shields of the Republic surrounding the value of the coinage... in this case 50 schillings. So, a nice addition to my growing stack of silver (even if it isn't pure silver... it's mostly there!).

Keep Your Digital Gold Safe with Ledger
Ledger is one of the leading providers of hardware wallets with the Ledger Nano S being one of the most popular choices for protecting your crypto currencies. Leaving your holdings on a crypto exchange means that you don’t actually own the digital assets, instead you are given an IOU that may or may not be honoured when you call upon it. Software and web based wallets have their weakness in your own personal online security, with your private keys being vulnerable in transit or whilst being stored upon your computer. Paper wallets are incredibly tiresome and still vulnerable to digital attacks (in transit) and are also open to real world attacks (such as theft/photography).
Supporting a wide range of top tokens and coins, the Ledger hardware wallet ensures that your private keys are secure and not exposed to either real world or digital actors. Finding a happy medium of security and usability, Ledger is the leading company in providing safe and secure access to your tokenised future!

Hahaha. Lollipop music of the classical genre. Too true! But it's easy and soothing and the masses like it.
I know... but it is such a horrible feeling as a musician to think that this is where most people have their first and last contact with Classical Music! On the other hand, it is better than nothing!
Cool coin and nice history lesson!

It's pretty cool... and I just can't resist when I see a classical music themed one!
Good for you, I have a tough enough time finding a silver coin with Bauhaus or Siouxsie and the Banshees on it.

Ha, yep... I can imagine they don't appear quite so often! Who knows, maybe in a hundred years there will be a commemorative coin?
