My Walk Through the Woods: Outtakes 4
Whoa.. getta loada this guy... orphaned by the last glacial melt 12,000 years ago.. he’s at least 8 feet high.

Clearly had a rough life..
Looka that diagonal fissure going to the upper-left.. you can see how the softer filler material washed away over time creating the open “cracks”, while the upper-right of the same fissure is still filled with some ancient material. Like a giant zygote undergoing mitosis for the first several times..
Freak’in head of a Monster!
Incredible gouges on this one... lots of old lichen circles.. Let’s take a look at the southern side in direct sunlight..
Wow.. look at the huge gap opening up!
As if it’s made of some soft material baked into form..
Well that’s just the nicest split boulder of the day... Best in Show!
It’s just after High Noon, so that gap is North-South. The Sunlight that hits the floor of that gap probably does so for only one hour of each day since it was initially cleaved 12,000 years back. Looks like I just missed it! Yes, I did squeeze myself through the gap... but nothing magical happened. Boulder is about 5 feet high.
This last one shows the process of fracturing in action.
Some pieces have already broken off, while the next ones have their fissures slowly eroding away.
