Betel Nut Tree
The people of Aceh in particular and Indonesia are generally familiar with the areca nut, Areca Tree in Latin called Areca Cathecu and in English known as Betel Palm or betel nut tree, this tree belongs to a group of monocots or one-piece plants.
Betel nut trees grow upright and reach 30 meters with a diameter of 15-20 cm. its unbranched and hard stem is perfect for use as a bridge or foundation of semi-permanent buildings.
Currently pinang become one of the community's mainstay commodities, in addition to palm and chocolate.
Egg-shaped fruit nut, length ranges between 5 cm, the skin is filamentous, when the young fruit is green and turn orange when cooked, in the fruit there is only one seed, shaped like a mask cone with rounded edges, the base slightly flat with a curve shallow, 15-30 mm long.
The dry old seeds can be exported to Thailand, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. There, especially India, their consumption of dried betel nuts already like Indonesians smoke, so it's about.
