I have moved all my content away from the now centralized and controlled Steem blockchain to the decentralized Hive blockchain.

It is indeed difficult to gamify a process without letting the users abuse it, ain`t it?

At Steemhunt we have seen that until we separated the upvote process from a ranking board, the abusement was not stopping. Based on your current system I would estimate the arrival of bigger country groups with really large V4V groups, adapting really fast on different kind of situations (as example logging in into a specific system and upvoting in that system, etc.)

Making the on-boarding process really difficult is another way to keep spammers away but it will be a balance act to keep users attracted and work with my system on one way and keep spammers out of the system(or make it hard enough) as you have always think about not to punish the good users because of few bad users.

Anyhow your process looks promising and you should think about having a black box for your 1up reputation or a open book about it as it will be gamed but the question is how difficult it will be :)

Keep up the good work!

Wow, thank you so much for your feedback. I look up to what Steemhunt has done with the gamification.

I hope to use @scipio's User Authority per API request to let people in as it sounds promising. In terms of vote for vote I hope by the extreme scarcity of 1UPs a voting pool would be quickly identifyable and blacklisted. We will reserve some upvote power for moderators and analyse the data regularly. But I am sure it will be a constant battle between abusers and 1UP.

My biggest hope is to onboard a lot of new people who help to develop this project further and make it eventually fully decentralized. Gemification and moderation for example are key positions that need to be filled.

One thing that jumped out at me about your system @flauwy is the effect of timezones. If an early upvote has so much importance the people in the "wrong" time zone for a post won't be able to take advantage of that.

And it will give a huge advantage to the voting that is done on a massive scale by particular country groups.

If I'm understanding what you're saying correctly. 😁

Don't worry, this will not be as bad as you describe. First of all there will be ten communities when we start on level 1 and able to get the big upvote. In order to make it most interesting we will let every 2.4 hours a community clock go to zero. That means there is something going on all day.

Additionally, as soon as a community hits level 2 they get a second daily upvote. That will reflect in putting their two daily timers with a distant of 12 hours to each other. Another possibility is to reshuffle ALL timers every time an community level-up happens and recalculate the new perfect distance of all timers. But I guess that would be very confusing and disrupting.

Either way, I am on it. ;)

Either way, I am on it.

Good to hear it @flauwy.

It will be interesting to see what the reality will be once you start running. What a huge advantage though, having the Steemit experience for reference of what to look out for. 😁
