Elephants on Parade. Two older art pieces featuring elephants and the love of Story in art.

An Elephant from my coffee and tea series.

I have been finding August rather busy and now with my happy intake into #sndbox, I find I am adding another level of participation to my busy Summer. It is one I am very happy to add to my busy time, but because of it I feel I should still endeavor to post fairly regularly. Thus, sharing two works from my previous series seemed appropriate.

My animals in chairs series were quite popular as they do well as stand alone art as graphics on things, such as tshirts and phone cases. It was even quite popular as a shower curtain.

My Coffee and Tea series, featuring coffee or tea obviously, was also of course animal and figural heavy. My first love is the female form and the animal, so it stand to reason in any 'series' I undertake, they will be the key players.

I love STORY in art.

And by that I mean I love art that leaves a sort of open interpretation of a storyline to the viewer. A sort of tableaux vivant of characters on a stage frozen in time that we walk in upon; left up to us to interpret what has come before and will will follow.

I even find abstractions to fill this love of Story in Art.

I cannot help but spin webs of a world on say a microscopic level swirling about in the colour and forms of abstractions. But, art does allow us that: Personal interaction. And I love that about it, we all bring our own 'baggage' and view of the a world to our viewing art.

The artist can set up their view of the world in their piece, but it is the viewer who sees his own life and story in it.

Well, I shan't rattle on today, I just wanted to share a couple of older pieces featuring elephants today. Probably because we were lucky enough to get a thunderstorm yesterday and the rattle and boom of the thunder in the house always makes me picture giant elephants trampling about outside.

It was lovely to feel the cool air after the rain and it thankfully broke our heatwave.

Although this is an older picture from last year, it demonstrates a normal night for us here at Toad Hall in the Summer: Wine and beachfires and the smell of @winstonalden pipe or cigars.

But, with the heat we have been having they have been tapering off, but last night we were able to partake again. Soon it will be beachfire season come September. The days will shorten and the nights will cool.

I hope you all find time for some relaxation in this busy time of year and maybe a chance for a beach or bonfire will feature in your Summer nights.

Ah, hello my friend. How are things? Sounding busy as usual. Same here. Not posting half as much as should, but we shant discuss that anymore, as that subject has been bonked on the head more than necessary lately.
Sitting on the beach at a fire and drinking vino sounds delightful. Plus the relaxation element of oceanic sounds in the backdrop. Or frontdrop, as the case may be. Suppose it all depends which way the chair is facing...

Speaking of which, I love the new (old) chair series singles here. The heffalump is having a time of it staying on the divan. Maybe too much of that grape effervescence beforehand. Then again, he she looks young to me. That classic form you have captured well. Always whimsical and fun to see them.
I hope all is going well, sounds like it. What does the Sandbox intake mean? Did you get invited to join? I'm not all that familiar with how it works. And shall not read about it tonight, as it is now past time for bed...I can hear my pillow calling. Hope you have a most wondrous evening. Cheerstoya

Fascinating elephants, I'm quite enthralled with that Elephant that appears to be contemplating laying down on that Chaise longue it will obviously crush!

Yes, I like a bit of humour in my things sometimes :)

Oh you have instagram too, I just followed you:)

Yes, I try to post on instagram, but nothing is as fun to post on as is Steemit :)

aha i agree on that!

Totally amazing arts but I am afraid the chair is too small for the elephant to sit comfortably. Minor consideration only.. don't change a thing.

Funny and true. I sort of changed the series name to 'animals WITH chairs' especially when I find the creature too large. I had a few sketches of whales with and ON chairs, but never actualized one for the final series. I did once do one with the chair on the animal as well. Rules, especially those made by ourselves, are made to be broken, right? ;)

Please break all the rules !

Or at least the self imposed made up ones ;)

Both elephants are so cute! I really love the colors you chose, especially for the first one?

How do you like selling your prints with Society6?

It's a pretty good and easy set up. I am hoping to move most of my production/sales to my own site I'm still building, but will continue to use places like society6 and redbubble, maybe even more when I get my site done.
I've ordered most of the things myself to check quality and was pretty impressed with their print quality. And it's a good source to sell housewares. I'm always amazed when people buy my things on bedspeads and drapes and shower curtains, as they are pretty pricey on there, but they seem to have the market.

I'd definitely recommend them to other artists. I think as artists in the 21st century in a growing digital age this type of sale as well as the growing blockchain support/ and rariety opportunity for artworks are all going to become increasingly important to the business side of being an artist. It isn't my favourite part of being an artist, but it is necessary and also great that we can begin to move away from just the gallery/show means of artist revenue.

very beautiful ! i love the second elephant also , which have some nice details on it ,
are you ready for the reintroduce yourself to @sndbox? only 4 days left , and i did nothing yet ! lol

Not yet, I'm going to be doing it tomorrow I think :) Do you know can we still share our posts on the weekend or is it just m-f on slack?
