My Black and White Singularity Drawing.

Here is a section of my Black and White Singularity drawing finished today.

And here is the entire image done:

Here is the pencil sketch I used to lay out the digital inked final piece.

I usually make sketches in pencil in my journal and then scan or capture it digitally.

Then I begin sketching and removing lines with digital pencil. After that I can use the pencil layer as the guide as I build up the layers of digital ink.

The greatest tool in the process is the digital layer.

This piece, for example, has 25 layers total. I won't show them all, as that would be a bit much, but here are a couple layers building up over the pencil (and even those are really multiple layers captured to show the process)

Here is a gif of some of the layers building up.
!

I honestly want to learn to do screen capture to show it building up that way, as many other artists do here on Steemit, but I just have not made it a priority as I am so busy this time of the year.

I love doing graphic black and white images such as this.

And I am now thinking of putting into my weekly art rotation to choose a day a week to finish one black and white image. Such as, say Black and white monday maybe even a hashtag to see if others want to use that day for black and white art, such as #blackandwhitemonday or some such.

It won't always be in my Singularity series, of course. And I have done black and whites in my witch and fat cat series as well as when I would do my cafe drawings, often involving coffee and an animal. The idea is I love the graphic quality of black and white.

I love taking a sketch and shading it and finding the black.

Which, I believe, is what they call in the world of graphic novel/comic arts, but others wiser than me in that field can correct me if I am incorrect.

Breaking an image down to stark contrast of black and white also only improves and informs your skill in colour.

And for me, at least, these graphic pieces serve to help my eye see those important contrasts needed when working with the subtlety of colour to better bring a painting into the sort of reality or dream-like reality for which I usually choose to aim.

I love the poster and graphic arts of the end of the 19th and into the early 20th century and I am finding my Singularity ladies rather lend themselves to this style I so love. I aslo think these sort of graphic images look so good on items such as clothing, housewares, phone cases et al. That is something I really love to sell and to see. If I can finish my website upgrade I'll be able to be the purveyor of those more myself rather than relying on society2 and redbubble and such sites as I do now. These are important sites for we modern artists, I feel.

Well, I hope all have a lovely day and get a moment to do a bit of your own creative craft or joy. And would other's be interested in choosing a day of the week, such as Monday, to post black and white artworks?

If you like my work by all means upvote, resteem, and comment. I always appreciate comments.

I was about to ask while reading, if it were a sketch or only digital art.. But I already read the answer .. I never tried to sketch something and then scan it to finish it digitally.. yours is nice, maybe I'll try once myself :)

I began mixing digital and 'real' quite a few years back when I was primarily moving to print making. I'd make my drawings and inking scans so I could digitally make a transperancy to then burn a screen for screen printing. In so doing I began to work more digitally and really love it. Whenever I sketch now I usually assume it'll end up scanned and into the computer, then I can take it anywhere and add to it as much as I like.

beauty and elegance with references to the art of the end of the century. You reminded me of the great Toulouse Lautrec

Gorgeous! The lines and shape remind me of the drawings of Aubrey Beardsley. Congratulations on sndbox cohort 2 too!

Thank you SO MUCH @opheliafu, I'm honored to be even thought of in the same breath as Beardsley, he is one of my favourites! I really just love that entire time in arts.

Very lovely and stylish, Donna. I like it a lot, the design is excellent. I love her big hairdo and her vacant expression, they work really well combined together :D.

Thank you so much @scrawly. I'm going to try and finish one black and white graphic piece a week now, to continue to build up that collection.

Thank you, I'm honoured.

Wonderful piece, @donnadavisart ! Her stance is so elegant and easy, a wonderful natural pose <3 The detailing is well done, specially on her exposed machine arm, and I love the stark black and white inking style you've used here <3 It makes the finish very stylish !

Thank you @veryspider, I really love doing black and white inking, it's fun and allows me to focus on stylizing the piece.
