The power of Social Media

From the previous post I've talked about Internet Technology. This time I'll write about something relatable that is Social Media. I'm pretty sure the word social media is no longer unknown to all of you reading this one now (Duh?)

Basically social media is everywhere in this world such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and yet we have Steemit. Social media is one of the hottest and trending tool to share and connect with people all around the world thanks to Internet. Back in the days there are no this sort of technology, and even backtracking to the older days, people use pigeons just to send letters to communicate with the people from the other side. Now we can input every single word through keyboard and hitting “Enter”, your message is sent. Furthermore, video calling is widely used as well. You can almost feel the person is just next to you although it’s only displayed through a screen instead of physically visible in front of you.

Just like I mentioned in the Internet post, there are always something bad from something good. Social media allows to connect people from all over the world, causing it to become a “virtual world” for every users. Most of them became addicted and slowly consumed by the virtual world they themselves created. They spend so much time on social media by playing phones, texting, sending messages or even dangerously using mobile phones when driving (Which is one of the root cause of accidents in Malaysia nowadays)

Because of this, they ignore what everyone calls the “Reality World”. They do not spend their time talking to the person next to them, going to the outside world but rather spend all their time on a device or screen. Although social media can be a useful tool, it can also turn humans into zombies (If you know what I mean)
