Baby Boom to Baby Bust – The Crisis in Socialism
Socialism relies on younger people to support the older ones. This is a central tenet to every government program that is terms an "entitlement".
Social Security in the United States is an example of this. Recently, Obamacare used the same premise of forcing younger workers to buy healthcare knowing they use the services less. Both programs are falling short of money.
The Pension Crisis in the United States that many municipalities are facing is another cause for concern.
At the core of all these programs is one simple problem: birth rates in the Western world dropped by more than half over the past 50 years leaving less younger people to pay for these programs.

With Socialism and Communism, it's always quantity over quality. Always has been, always will be! It's the most blunt force way of getting something achieved, whether it be militarily, economically, politically, or socially. The old adage "Just throw bodies at the problem until it's solved" perfectly summarizes this socialistic concept.
