Talking about music: Regulo Gomez

in #spanish6 years ago (edited)
Regulo Gómez is a Venezuelan photographer born in the city of Caracas, famous for his photographs of musicians and artists, undoubtedly a person who sees music from a point even more artistic than the same musicians for whom he works.

he knows very well the commitment that Regulo has with his work and with the Venezuelan musical movement, he has worked with Venezuelan artists like Tomates Fritos, Luis Iran, San Tome among others.

A curious fact is that it is also known for its group selfie at the end of a concert or event, it is a moment that by experience, goes beyond the simple thing that a selfie can be, it is a clear sign of friendship and work, something which for many musicians is really important.

Some questions I could ask Regulo who was quite enthusiastic about this interview and what he tries to express.

What do you like most about the photography of bands and musical projects?

Band photography has two aspects. The one about concerts, which is basically documentary. It is to be able to capture those best moments in quick situations. And "commercial" photography that is more focused on selling an idea. Personally, try to have a particular sound.

What have been your best pictures of bands?

I can not deny that photography is very mixed with emotion and personal relationships. In this sense I would say that my best photos would be with those bands with which one way or another I have linked beyond the platforms. That really has been a large majority.

How has your experience been with bands?

Great. An opportunity to visit Venezuela, places that perhaps by my own means could not go. Learn more about people I admire for what they do and for what they are. In the background it is a feeling of nostalgia and gratefulness.

Genial.

What is the most important thing when capturing a moment in a show?

It may sound cliché but light. Maybe a "great performance" is not happening but if there is a good light it will be an epic moment without a doubt.

What bands have you worked with so far?

San Tomé, Too Much, Pakalolo, Le'Cinema, Luis Irán, Tomates Fritos, La Fleur, La Venz, La 3ra. N, Gustavo Casas....

If you could repeat a moment in one of your photos what would it be?

Undoubtedly the tour in the West next to San Tomé. An experience that changed my life a little and made me grow as a person and as a photographer.

At what point did you realize that you were already a band photographer?

I think I still do not believe it at all. At the end of the day I do what I love doing. Go to shows, listen to good music and portray those moments my way. Luckily he liked it.

Ir a shows, escuchar buena música y retratar esos momentos a mi manera. Por suerte ha gustado.
