El sol caía y su corazón latía frenéticamente de emoción, ella sabía que hoy sucedería. Finalmente, el ave Fénix renacería.

The sun was already fallen and her heart beat frantically with excitement, she knew that today would happen. Finally, the Phoenix would be reborn.

Sobre el horizonte se destacan los colores del final del día, en instantes todo se apagaría. Sin embargo, ella nota un destello, una luz que encandila. Sobre el monte, una fogata ardía; era el llamado al ave de las mil vidas.

On the horizon the colors of the end of the day stand out, in moments everything would black out. However, she notices a flash, a light that dazzles. On the mountain, a bonfire slashes through darkness; It was the call to the bird of a thousand lives.

Un gorjeo rompe el silencio. La calma se interrumpe ante esa llama que ardía. Veloz, radiante, explosivo de emoción, el ave a su llamado respondía.

A trill breaks the silence. The calm is interrupted by that burning flame. Fast, radiant, explosive of emotion, the bird at his call answers.

Sus pupilas dilatadas, el Fénix por fin la observaba. Casi parecía hablarle, sus latidos querían contestarle. Con cada aleteo, ella pudo ver, pequeños rayos de luz se encendían.

Its pupils dilated, the Phoenix finally watched her. He almost seemed to speak, her heartbeat wanted to answer him. With each flutter, she could see, little rays of light and it's radiance.

El ave voltea dándole la espalda, la doncella recupera la calma. Con rumbo a su destino, el ave calla. Cada vez más lejos de ella, cada vez más cerca de su alma. El recuerdo aún la llama, el mito del ave Fénix nunca se apaga.

The bird turns with its back, the maid regains her composure and remains quiet. In the direction of its destination, the bird is silent. Increasingly away from her, closer and closer to her soul. The memory still calls, the myth of the Phoenix bird never goes out.

I tried to rhyme in spanish but I couldn't really get it as well in english. I'm not there yet on my writing skills. Sorry about that.

Proceso de la ilustración | Illustration process

Me inspiré para esta ilustración en la concepción griega del ave fénix, un ave que sólo se deja ver cuando se dirige rumbo a su muerte/renacer en un fuego. Por eso, en la esquina inferior derecha esbocé el templo de Zeus en Atenas, ya que se trata de uno de los lugares donde se encendía la antorcha olímpica.

Para el diseño del ave tomé de referencia al Águila harpía, un ave de una belleza increíble, que también se caracteriza por su tamaño, siendo una de las águilas más grandes del mundo.

I was inspired for this illustration in the Greek conception of the phoenix, a bird that can only be seen when it is headed towards its death / reborn in a fire. Therefore, in the lower right corner I outlined the temple of Zeus in Athens, since it is one of the places where the Olympic torch was lit.
For the design of the bird I took reference of the Harpy Eagle, a bird of incredible beauty, which is also characterized by its size, being one of the largest eagles in the world.

Empecé a colorear con tonos amarillos y siena, suavemente el paisaje y con más detalle en el plumaje. Estos son los colores que más repetí a lo largo del proceso.

I started coloring with yellow and sienna tones, softly the landscape and with more detail in the plumage. These are the colors that I repeated the most throughout the process.

A los tonos anteriores sumé el rojo carmesí y tonos violáceos. Con esos tonos, marqué la diferencia entre las alas y el cuerpo en sí del fénix. También me concentré en identificar tonos para la ropa y la piel de la chica.

To the previous tones I added crimson red and violet. With these, I established the difference between the wings and the body itself of the Phoenix. I also focused on identifying tones for the girl's clothes and skin.

A partir de este paso, me concentré en ir profundizando los colores del cielo y los diferentes tonos de los cerros. Además, sumé un tono marrón para el templo.

From this step, I focused on going deeper into the colors of the sky and the different tones of the hills. In addition, I added a brown tone to the temple.

Profundicé con tonos azules para las nubes del cielo y me concentré en detalles del plumaje.

I deepened with blue tones for the clouds of the sky and added on plumage details.

Definí tonos en el plumaje y el vestido de la chica. Añadí algunos detalles en el cielo, unos 'fogonazos' saliendo del plumaje del fénix.

I defined tones in the plumage and dress of the girl. I added some details in the sky, some 'flashes' coming out of the plumage of the phoenix.
