SPIRITUAL FOOD 4 THOUGHT : PRE-TRIB, MID-TRIB, or POST TRIB? - THE UNDERLYING ISSUE

in #spirituality5 years ago

In the discussion on eschatology, a common question that frequently comes up is whether you are pre-trib, mid-trib, or post-trib.

The problem with this questions is that "the tribulation" is already beleived to be an irrefutable fact. However, God never uses or defines "the tribulation," which means that it is a man-made term. What does God actually say?

Very great words from papa-pepper!, intense message worth sharing!

The interpretation of the Scriptures that includes any kind of ideas of a separate "Rapture" for Christians (a "Left Behind" scenario) dates back to less than 150 years ago. It's not a strong selling point to suggest that the Church just "missed that" for century upon century until someone in the 19th century happened to stumble upon it.

Very, very good point.

I agree its important that we admit, while God is inerrant, we are not.

Yet, God can and does lead us to proper understanding, despite our brokenness regularly. However, seems to me, we can, and often do, reject his help, and try to do it on our own, through pride and by our own strength, and so we can misinterpret and be lead astray.

Also, do you ever think about crypto and the mark of the beast? Im not sure I understand revelation well enough, but I sometimes think about that, and was wondering your opinion.

Is crypto a precursor to the mark of the beast? In my mind, absolutely. Of course, debased currency like the USD also is, as are credit cards and debit cards, various e-pay options and other things. We'll see how things play out, but I'm trying to set us up to not "need money" to survive... which may buy us some time.

Great answer, and thanks for the reply.

I've got another one for you, if you've got the time:

I've been listening to this guy Frank Turek, he is a modern apologist, and he seems really intelligent and I like I lot of what he says, but he says something that doesn't sit right with me and I wanted to hear your thoughts.

He says the old testiment doesn't apply to us, and I know your opinion generally on that, which is that's wrong. But specifically he says 9 out of the 10 commandments were repeated in the new testiment, and therefore those still apply, but the one that doesnt repeat is observe the sabbath...

I've also heard it said that Jesus is the new sabbath, and that we are to observe him all the time, or some such thing.

My pastor always says, and it seems true to me, that the old and the new apply, because Jesus doesn't weaken what was said, in fact he kicks it up a notch. You have heard it said, its wrong to commit adultery, but I say to you, if you lust after another woman you have ALREADY commited adultery.

So, yeah, do you think all the OT still applies? Parts of it? Only what Jesus explicitly says applies?

Many seem to have turned things into a game of "simon says," with "Simon" being the New Testament. Since God does not change, I do not think it wise to disregard anything not specifically reiterated in the New Testament. Perhaps the best example of this would be sexual immorality. In the New Testament, only sexual immorality between people is addressed. In the Old Testament, sexual immorality between people, and between people and animals, is addressed. Since the New Testament is silent about beastiality, are we then free to commit beastility? Again, the New Testament does not address this specifically like the Old Testament does.

In response to the Sabbath, I would consider Isaiah 66, specifically verse 23. It seems to me that it is still important to Him in the future, and any modern believer who may happen to be on the earth at that time would be wise to worship Him on His sabbath, at least when he returns.

This is a touchy subject for many, but those are a few of my thoughts at the moment.
