[Premier League]: Review of the last weeks.

in #sport5 years ago (edited)

Hello! So, there are eight rounds left in the Premier League, in fact it is the final straight. It's time to take some results and assess the chances of teams to win and fly to the Championship.

The leaders

Liverpool last weekend missed Manchester City ahead, after another boring mersyside derby. Like all Liverpool fans, I don’t give up hope that the team of Jürgen Klopp can still get together and win the championship, but this will be very difficult. In the trio of attack, things are going bad: Sadio Mane is very unstable, Roberto Firmino scored a goal the last time a long time ago, Salah just had a bad form of play. And here everything is very simple - the teams of the Premier League adapted to the game of this trio, and it is impossible to come up with something new. There is a need for fresh blood in the attack, in the midfield, and also another high-quality central defender is urgently needed. But unfortunately, the winter transfer window passed by Liverpool, so the chances of winning this season are extremely small.

Manchester City, which has escaped to the first place, is a real point-gaining machine lately, perhaps Manchester City itself can stop them. A team that successfully performs in all tournaments, the players of which are in excellent shape can easily win this championship. Depth of the bench, as well as a cool selection of players allows you to fight for victory in all tournaments where the MC stands. Tottenham has recently claimed his title claim, is now very far from joining the championship race. The gap from the first place is 10 points. In the last three matches, the “spurs” scored just one point in a match with Arsenal, and even then they miraculously managed to do this, because at the end of the match Arsenal did not convert the penalty. Of the top teams “spurs” in the remaining rounds to play with Liverpool and Manchester City. Both matches will be a guest.

Meanwhile, Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea are advancing on the heels of the “spurs”. United under the leadership of Solskjaer did not suffer a single defeat in the League and logically broke into the Top 4, pushing Arsenal out of there failing guest matches. Much has already been said about Chelsea, whether the team has overcome the crisis or not is unclear, but the "retirees" after the defeat of the City beat Fulham and Tottenham.

Wolverhampton, Watford and West Ham United may begin preparing for the next season, they are not threatened with a crash and they are unlikely to be able to rise above seventh place. Also in the near future, the cherished 40 points can score Everton and Leicester City. By the way, the “foxes” recently changed their coach, I don’t know how logical this decision was, but let's see how well Brendan Rogers does his job. So far, the first match under his leadership, Leicester lost.

Outsiders

The main contenders for this season's departure are Huddersfield and Fulham. And if in the case of the “terriers” it was predictable because last season the team escaped by a miracle, and in fact there was no gain in the summer, then the “cottagers” strongly disappointed. Before the start of the season, Fulham updated the entire core team, a huge number of very good players were acquired, and I hoped that the team would be able to fight for a place in the top ten. But perhaps this is the complete replacement of the basic composition and played a cruel joke with them. The team did not have time to play, and some players were not ready for English football. The management changed two coaches, but this did not bring any results and now Scott Parker will have to finish the season with the team and most likely is preparing for the Championship.

Also under threat of departure are such teams as Cardiff City, Southampton, Burnley, Brighton, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Bormouth. All of these teams from the relegation zone separates less than 10 points. However, here it seems the main contender for the 18th place is Cardiff City. Compared to the rest of the teams, the Welsh club looks much weaker. Bournemouth was an unpleasant segment of the championship, where the team opposed the championship leaders and was weaker, Crystal Palace now shows a convincing game and is likely to secure a place in the Premier League next year. Newcastle is now a very uncompromising team that just won’t give points, but their calendar is not simple and it’s not quite clear how all this can end. But Brighton, Burnley and Southampton are likely to argue with Cardiff for a place in the league for next season. All these teams are approximately in the same form and the struggle will be serious.
