Ajayi one smart person
Jay Ajayi was recently hurt, and was told it was a season ending ACL tear, but there was some good news. He recently took out a protection policy against his value. They don't know how much the policy cost, but they are guessing for a 5 million dollar policy it cost 80 to 100k a year. That is some serious money, and it was a heck of a business move. There are a ton of players who do not protect themselves, which makes no sense, since I protect myself with insurance policies, and I am not getting crushed by other angry men. Hope he makes a comeback.
Hopefully he's wise with that money. A lot of people who come into money quickly can lose it all quickly, but if he's careful and intentional with it, even that could be enough to retire on. Hopefully he'll return soon and be able to play for many more seasons.
Some are great with their money, and some are terrible. I know a couple who have bought and started successful businesses after their careers.
Insurance for these athletes contracts is a huge business and big money. I can't imagine any being naive enough to not have some protection. Great move by Ajayi.
