How my hometown basketball club took the Champions League by storm
Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!
I am going to skip the photo contests today as there is something else I want to share with you. It will probably be interesting to basketball fans only but I still have to tell you because the feat that my hometown basketball club BK Opava pulled off in the Champions League this week was just mind-blowing.

After claiming the runners-up spot in the Czech national league last year, BK Opava qualified for the Champions League group stage this year, which was already the greatest achievement in our club´s history.
A complete rookie, Opava have by far the smallest budget of all teams competing in the Champions League, making us the biggest underdogs of the whole tournament. Therefore, when the elite French side Nanterre 92 arrived in Opava for the opening match of the group stage, we were expected to get hammered by the French.
But our boys delivered a stunning, super courageous team performance, totally beating the odds while defeating the shocked French 74:67!

The home fans were singing victorious chants and the whole arena burst into euphoria. I was so happy that I was there too. Easily one of my most exciting and memorable sport experiences so far.
