Citroen wants hybrid (electric) WRC cars from 2022

in #sport5 years ago

Hi, Steemers!

Citroen World Rally Team commitment to FIA WRC lasts at the end of season 2020. Both their drivers, Ogier and Lappi, has their contracts valid until the end of 2020.

Team wants new technologies in the sport and that means hybrid (electric) WRC future. I can't imagine what sound should be produced from hybrid or electric cars because I am used to so loud noise from turbo engines from current WRC cars.

FIA should make some decisions very soon but the current regulations will be valid until the end of 2021. It seems that regulations change too often and that's only my opinion.

I mean, I understand that something has to be changed according to the future technologies and that should be in close future. Electric cars are coming fast and if that is the future technology, we have to respect this in sport also.

Formula 1 and Indy Car has hybrid technologies for years so I should say that this is next for WRC as well.

We will see in close future what will FIA decide. Let it be the best...

P.S: Another info from Citroen: they changed Ohlins suspension to Reiger for Mexico and they won. ;)
