Mads Ostberg on Otago Classic Rally with old Ford Escort

Yesterday I wrote that Mads Ostberg will come back to the highest class in rallying with the Citroen World Rally Team on Rally Portugal.

He is also testing Citroen's latest rally car C3 R5 which is the latest homologated R5 class car.

Citroen expects a lot of that car after lots of failures with the DS3 R5. If the car costs around 300 000€ and they sell around 100 car, then it's very profitable for the company. That's why they test extensively with the top drivers of the sport.

But back to Ostberg and his visit to the New Zealand Rally Championship. He was quest there on invitation of Hyundai's works driver Hayden Paddon to drive an old Ford Escort on Otago Classic Rally.

Ostberg broke some stage records times and won some special stages but also had some mechanical issues. After all he had a good fun and nice preparation ahead of Rally Portugal.
