Broncos Rumors suggest Royce Freeman is ready.

The rumor and buzz around Denver right now is the Broncos plan to give more carries to Royce Freeman this year than Phillip Lindsay who made the Pro Bowl last year in his Rookie Season. Freeman was probably the second or third best tailback in his draft class and in my opinion he underperformed his expectations when we drafted him last year. He looked slow to hit the holes, indecisive in his cut back decisions and rarely provided our offense a spark.

Freeman was an absolute monster at Oregon University where is is the all time leading rusher in school history, which is definitely something because Oregon has had several backs placed in the NFL. Freeman admitted he was hurt last year and has not felt as good as he does now in a long time. Phillip Lindsay broke his wrist Last year and should be ready for week 1. Lindsay is a special talent and he is one tough sucker! I didn’t feel like Royce Freeman ran with an attitude and violent punishing collisions last year. He needs to take a massive step forward this year and decide to either become a great dominant back or just another college guy who could not translate to the NFL.

Look at the physical size differences between Lindsay and Freeman, they are two completely different backs with unique skill sets. With a buffed up Broncos Defense, a middle LB pick looming and a defensive coach the Broncos need a bell cow back who can grind the clock away on high powered offensive teams. Lindsay is fast, quick, elusive and tough as shoe leather. We need both to have great years to have any chance at the AFC West.
